Andy Gibb (youngest brother of the Bee Gees) was born the same month, day and year that I was born.
As near as i can tell, nothing.
Oh, wait, Brandi Brandt was born on the same day and same year. Mmm… And Helle Michaelsen. I wish I had known that earlier; I would have emailed them and asked if they wanted to hook up. Well, providing Ms. Brandt is not in jail.
Over 30 tornados went thru Michigan.
in other words, not much
Nothing for me, but my friend just had her baby the night the Chilean miners began to be rescued. The timing was perfect, Eli was in the birth canal as Florencio Avalos, the first miner, was in the capsule. Definitely a night to remember.
Our fleet successfully deployed a planetary core detonator against the homeworld of the Reptilians, causing the planet to shatter into pieces. We achieved a 100% casualty rate, however some of them managed to escape before deployment and fled to this planet.
The Rolling Stones put on a free concert in Hyde Park with King Crimson in tribute to the recently-deceased Brian Jones.
Led Zeppelin came the U.S. and played Atlanta that night.
RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan and John LeClair the American hockey player were born the same day and year as me.
It was the day after the big national holiday here, so I’m sure most people were either still partying (I was born on a Saturday) or nursing their hangovers and looking forward to the moon landing.
The US Olympic hockey team won a Gold Medal (beating Canada according to some reports and beating Czechoslovakia according to others). I wasn’t there, so I don’t know.
I was born eight days early and my dad cried.
I was to be a Christmas present for my mother, from my father.
My dad panicked and walked the streets looking for another Christmas present for my mother.
I have never undestood if this was a good thing or a bad thing…....for both of us.
Nothing I can find, but..in 1492 Columbus settled in the New World. lol
@john65pennington
Well…your dad should have known that ‘special deliveries’ might not go as planned! lol
Let’s see… my birthday was:
The last day of the National Scout Jamboree that year. That year was the first year they moved to Fort A.P. Hill, VA.
The day that the Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981 passed congress. It was signed into law 9 days later by President Reagan. Interestingly (at least to me), it was sponsored by a Delaware Senator and that was the state I was born in.
The number one song in the charts in the US that day was “Jesse’s Girl” by Rick Springfield. In the UK it was “Green Door” by Shakin’ Stevens.
It was also the last day many air traffic controllers had a job after going on strike. About 13,000 air traffic controllers went on strike the day before my birth and Reagan told them they had 48 hours to get back to work or else they would be fired. Many of them did not go back to work, so they were fired and banned from every being hired by the FAA ever again. Clinton lifted that ban in 1993. (Source)
My #1 Song was “Hey Jude” according to Billboard.
My mom gave me my first hug!
The only thing I can find through Google, is that on my exact birthday, including the year and everything, “Congress overrides Reagan’s veto of sweeping the civil rights bill.”
An ickle star shone over Bethlehem. No it didn’t, who am I kidding? I’ve lived a lie all these years. I fuckin hate those sandals as well :¬(
I ended up delivering at 13:13 in room 13!!!
St Julius I began his reign as Catholic Pope. ( Though not in the same year of my birth luckily)
The day I was born was the day I died for the first time. I’m about 6ft 6in tall, when I was born I was a month over due and 2ft tall already, my size lead the doctor to think that my mothers water had no broke, so he used a hook to break her water. little did he know my mothers water had broke and that he was using the hook on my head. After having my head cracked open I started to come out, but had my umbilical cord wrapped around my neck 3 times, so as I came out, I was strangled. My heart had stopped and I was not breathing, but after a few seconds they managed to get me going with a defibrulator. 18-jan-1983 Princess alexandra hospital in Harlow UK.
Probably not very interesting to anyone else, there are lot of difficult births in the world, but as It was my first death to date, its fairly important to me, even if i only ever experienced it as nostalgia from my parents.
EDIT: Next time you look at one of my posts and think “what the hell is wrong with this idiot” you will know.
From Wikipedia: Western Union launched the United States’ first commercial geosynchronous communications satellite, Westar 1. whoopie
@poisonedantidote So glad you survived. My good friend lost his daughter on my birthday this year from having the cord wrapped around her neck three times also. You would think modern medicine would’ve prevented this or at least could have kept her alive
So yes, your story was very interesting to me.
My Dad tells me that when he and mom walked out of the hospital with me it was during the day and there was no one around, and supposedly there was an albino dear looking straight at us.
@poisonedantidote you are one tough guy. Glad you made it and that your fighting spirit won!
Mount Vesuvius erupted—but a few years earlier.

@mistik04 – it says it was removed due to “writing standards”... I didn’t see your answer, though, so I don’t know what specifically was wrong with it.
@Seelix – oh, wow!. I just reposted it. Can you tell me what’s wrong with it?
@mistik04 – Looks okay to me [/shrug]
On my 10th birthday, the Republic of Yemen was formed. :)
December 3rd, 1974 : In the midst of a terrible economic crisis, the Labor government of Britain was going to slash defense budgets by $464 million initially and then up to $1.74 billion by 1980. The areas most affected would be east of the Suez.
On my 10th Birthday – December 3rd, 1984 : Thousands of people die from the effects of toxic gases which leaked from Bhopal Union Carbide Factory near the central Indian city of Bhopal. The leak also caused injuries to nearly 250,000 more with over 10,000 have since died from toxic gas related diseases. On my 25th Birthday – December 3rd, 1999 : NASA loses contact with Mars Polar Lander shortly before it’s planned atmospheric entry, the failure of the mission was blamed on a software error.
@mistik04 I saw your answer. I’m willing to bet it got removed because you wrote ‘r’ instead of ‘are’ originally, since it says it was removed for writing standards.
Well it’s not the same year, but I was born on Dec. 7th, Pearl Harbor Day. The day the first A-bomb was actually used in a battle. And if you knew me and my personality you would see that it is very fitting that I was born on such a day.
@Mat74UK Not grammar nazis, it’s just against Fluther guidelines to use text speak, which is what that could be considered.
