Have any of you taken spirulina regularly?

Asked by essieness (7703points) November 21st, 2010

I recently learned about this “super food” and bought some today to try it out. I have Addison’s disease which means I’m often fatigued and my immune system is compromised. I’m excited to see the results of taking spirulina, but I’m hoping to get some insider info on what kind of changes to expect.

Anybody?

I took it when we were vegetarian because it contains almost everything! and contains a complete protein.

Strange that you ask since I wanted to ask the same. I recently started taking it. I don’t know if it is too early to speak yet, but I haven’t noticed anything spectacular yet. Some swear by it and others say it is way overrated. I am waiting…..........

My mom worked in the herbal supplement field almost my whole life. One of the companies she worked for was Nature’s Plus, who has a Spirutein shake that I would often drink for breakfast (freeze a whole banana and toss it in there, especially in the chocolate shake, mmmmm). Can’t say I ever really noticed much difference in my health or anything, but it’s not a bad thing to drink. Loads of vitamins and minerals, plenty of protein, no fat, and fairly low in calories.
