If you chew food in a quiet room where there are other people present, do you feel self conscious, like your chewing is extra loud?

If I eat food at my desk at work, I feel very aware of chewing and it being loud. We are all allowed to eat at our desks, so it’s not a fear of getting in trouble.
Is this paranoia?

I hate that, although it’s funny hearing myself slow my chewing down once it becomes quiet. But I can’t do anything about it except chew with my mouth closed.
I generally don’t chew in quiet rooms where other people are present but I know what you mean. Do you have personal issues with eating at all?
This evening, I was crunching on some chips around some students and I felt really self conscious! So funny that you would ask.
I hate gum smackers and force them to watch this until they stop or spit out the gum.
Yes! Chewing popcorn in the movie theater when everything suddenly goes quiet is the worst.
Yes, when I’m eating chips I tend to chew softly.
Yes, I feel self-conscious since I seem to always hear others chewing and wonder why do they have to make so much noise while eating.
I agree with the chewing, but what about this: you go to a friends house to visit. its super quite, while you are trying to figure out an algebra problem. the restroom, in their house, is really close to where you are sitting. a man comes along and has to go…...really bad. its as though he had been saving going to pee, just for this occasion and time. even though the door was shut, the quietness was disturbed by the sound of a hose pipe running wide open in the commode. we all looked at each other annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd just laughed.
You bet! Or while talking with someone you don’t really know at a meal. I had dinner with my son’s in-laws. I think I have good manners but whew!
I hate eating crisps when everything is quiet. I have even been known to suck them before chewing before so they don’t crunch so loud!
Funny you asked this. Yes definitely, especially if it’s something crunchy like chips.
