You can, but olive oil has a lower flash point than most cooking oil, so you may have to adjust the temp and time you fry it.
Sure. The food does not know where the heat is coming from. But olive oil has a distinct flavor that will compete with the subtle taste of the the chicken. Plus the smoke point of olive oil is 400 degrees so you have to be careful since you would be cooking at about 350. Cutting it close.
Yes, it may not be the ideal but it is not so bad that you should never use it for frying.
should I just go over and get oil now I’m worried
Use peanut oil. No taste, high smoke and flash point.
I’m sort of a seat of the pants cook
I’m allergic to peanuts .. I’ll go the hell over – thanks evabody, so much
Being allergic to peanuts does not mean that you are automatically allergic to peanut oil.
@josie I have always liked the taste of chicken fried in olive oil.
@trailsillustrated Using olive oil shouldn’t be that much of a problem, you just have to be aware of its limitations.
@josie really?? I’ll use anything that’s easier. How so ? should I try it?
Do you have shortening? That works well.

thanks I huffed over and got some shortening haha thankyou
You could have also mixed butter with the cooking oil.
Italy, the Mediterranian? I fry whatever I can in olive oil- if there is taste, I like it. It’s just so expensive here.
I always fry chicken and everything in olive oil. I even use it to deep fry. And @josie I disagree about peanut oil having no taste, I think it has a very distinctive taste and I like it in asian dishes but not so much in anything else!
