How do you paste multiple links on here?

Asked by Paradox (2580points) November 25th, 2010

I know how to paste a single link on here but how do you paste more than one link? Is there a feature on my computer that would allow me to do this? I see so many users on posting multiple links in their answers.

One by one.

Yeah – just type it out like you normally would, one after the other, like this:

For examples, see “this”:[cut and paste url], “this”:[cut and paste url], and “this”:[cut and paste url].

Dam I completly forgot about cutting links, thanks.

I understand the procedure to do this and then I would use the same procedure to type the second link but if I would directly go to the website to copy or cut a second link then I lose everything I posted. It’s allowing me to copy or cut from my add ons to my favorites tab but it’s not allowing me to paste the link from the favorites tab. My computer is only allowing me to copy and paste directly from the url address itself when I’m on that specific website and of course when I do this I lose my first link and everything else I posted. Is there a certain place where I can store the extra links so I can copy and paste them without leaving the page my typed answer is on? I also tried to copy as well as cut multiple links before I type a post but when I go to paste only my most recent copied or cut link gets pasted. I do understand the difference between copying and cutting as well because I used both of these functions to make resumes and other stuff. I tried in vain to practice here with no luck.

What browser are you using? You should be able to open a second tab or window for the next website you want to link, leaving Fluther open in the original one. If you can’t do that, try hitting the “back” button after you’ve copied the second link. On my browser, that brings me back to the Fluther page, with what I’ve typed so far still in place.

@augustlan That’s the problem I keep having. I can add a link to an extra tab while being on the same page on Fluther and my computer allows me to copy the link when I do it the way you’ve described but ironically my paste function doesn’t work when I try to add the second link from my extras tab. My paste function only works when I’ve copied the url address directly from the url address itself which means being away from the fluther homepage.

Usually I will add the link to my favorites bar and then I will add the link I’m trying to post to an extra tab button so I can copy and paste it while being on the same Fluther page. Copy works this way but not paste. The only way I can think to get around this is by manually typing each url address after copying and pasting the first one. Maybe it’s my computer but I don’t really have any problems with it.

Hm. I’ll go with my default answer… try clearing your cache (footprints/history/cookies) and restarting your browser. (Again, what browser are you using?) If all else fails, try asking @johnpowell. He’s a computer god. :)

I have an Internet Explorer and a Google search engine (by default). I’ve erased all of my cookies and website history. It’s allowing me to copy or cut from my website tabs but not paste them. If I leave the Fluther homepage and then scroll back I lose everything I’ve typed in the answer box. Without adding the url address to a tab there is no other way I can think of to access the link without leaving the Fluther homepage and losing everything I’ve typed in the answer box.

I’ve given up here, I’ve practiced trying to do this for hours now with no luck. I only paste links on rare occasions anyway but there was a time or two where it would have been nice. It will have to be a single link per answer for me.

@Paradox I’m not sure I understand exactly what your problem is but if this helps or answers your issue: what I do is, if come across a link or multiple links I might want, I copy them from the browser’s address line into textedit until I need them and if I want to find one after I have started my comment, I open a new window in my browser, go to the site and copy the link from the address line and either paste it into textedit or directly into the answer on fluther.

And much of the time, if I am working on a particular long or complex comment, or one I want to get just right or one with multiple links I want to get just right, I write the whole comment in textedit and then paste it into the fluther comment box, then I never lose either the comment or the links.

But yes, you do have to list/enter multiple links one at a time. It can be rather tedious if you have more than two but that’s the way it has to be done here.

Here, here and here. That was it @lillycoyote thank you.
