What item would be important enough for you to brave the crowds for Black Friday shopping?
I’ll be at UGH Walmart UGH because I’m getting a gift for my parents. I’m braving the Black Friday crowds because it’s much cheaper than usual and money is uber tight this year. So I’ll sacrifice a night of sleep to save $100 on a nifty gift my parents will absolutely adore, that I wouldn’t be able to afford otherwise.

Not a thing in the world would get me out of bed and into those crowds—-
Unless it was a platinum plated laptop/wine chiller for $5.
I can’t think of a thing that would drive me to do that.;) Good luck!
Nothing would get me out into that crowd of mean people. May the force be with you.
Absolutely nothing could tempt me. I would rather put a stick in my eye.
My mom just feels like perusing Walmart at midnight today/tomorrow. Geez.
Socks at Fred Meyers. Then, Bi-Mart.
Maybe a new laptop and a graphics tablet. But I won’t because I’m 13 and I don’t have alot of money. I wish you luck…......and hope you don’t get hurt.
Absolutely nothing!
Okay, maybe if they were selling $10,000 for a dollar!XD
There’s nothing. I hate shopping at any time. By me a good year is one in which I never go to a mall at all. I do not go between Thanksgiving and New Year’s for anything less than a life-and-death emergency.
@WillWorkForChocolate, that is a major sacrifice and probably more than your parents would want you to do for them. I hope you come out of it happy.
NOTHING. Especially with the internet and all the same exact deals online it just makes the black friday shopping seem even more pointless
The receptionist at my mother’s facility today was clipping coupons furiously in preparation for leaving her house at 4:30 AM tomorrow.
@Trillian “I would rather put a stick in my eye.”
Best Buy has great deals on all kinds of sticks tomorrow only!
My SIL, who is staying with me this weekend, is already in bed, has been since 8 and is getting up at 3 a.m. to go shopping.
@RealEyesRealizeRealLies I’ll just cope with the sticks here at home. You can go out if you like, all right? There’s a love. Just thinking about the parking lot in Best Buy makes my ass twitch.
I know I know… Not doing that again since I got the boy a Wii three years ago standing in the front of Toys R Us on the ice for seven hours. It does make one’s sphincter want to crawl.
We don’t have Black Friday here. Thank God. You American’s are silly. :)
A whole lotta fuckall lol.
A button that, when pushed, would effectively end Black Friday and the entire Holiday Money Push forever.
OK my story from three years ago… I’m first in line at midnight camping out in front of Toys R Us. It was kind of fun actually. As the night progressed, the line had over two hundred people waiting to get the Wii.
Sooo… the doors were to open at 8am, right? About ten minutes before the doors open, some guy drives past the line and starts shouting “Best Buy is open now and has fifty Wii’s at half price”!!!
The guy next to me asked, “Whadda ya think?”... _“I think I’m first in line right here”…
But sure enough, ⅔’s of the people who had been waiting all night decided to leave their spot in line and go chase the Best Buy tip. Wouldn’t you know it, the guy in the truck pulls back around and parks in the lot, gets out and into our line.
I yelled to him, “Why aren’t you at Best Buy getting the half price Wii”? He said that was bullshit just to get everyone out of line. And sure enough, as I’m checking out and leaving the store, many of the folks who left for Best Buy were returning to Toys R Us. They missed out chasing ghosts.
My husband says he will make a try for the $298 40” LCD TV for me. That $250 less than the regular price.
Last year, the people were forced to line up along side the building, and just at opening, a two car loads of people drove up and rushed the doors when they opened, running in front of all the people confined behind the barriers.
@Blondesjon That’s fucking awesome lol, love that beer. :)
A cheaper gift is not on my list of priorities….I will be sleeping in!! Good luck and fling elbows as needed!
@YARNLADY, the pre-black friday sale had it for $398, and there was no waiting. $100 savings, and a sure thing. No battling crowds for a maybe. Lots of the black friday sales items can be ordered online.
The only place I would brave would be the Apple store because it’s the only sale day of the year. But even they offer the discount on line, and I’d probably do that instead of fighting crowds and hassling with parking.
@BarnacleBill I saw only a 37” TV at that price. We are checking online to see. As long as I have a working TV, I am not real serious about getting a new one, but the right size, at the right price, could change my mind.
If there was something I couldn’t order online and have delivered. I put up with holiday shopping only for groceries and gift wrap stuff.
@Jeruba It was half fun and half painful, LOL. I don’t know if I’ll ever do it again. But it was a really good deal that I just didn’t want to pass up, and my parents will love their gift and use it all the time.
While I was there, I also managed to find 2 gifts I had already bought from Target that were half off at Walmart for last night only. I bought the darn things and I’ll take the other ones back to Target and get extra money back!!
I got home around 5:30 this morning….. so tired today! But it was worth it, I think. Like I said, money is extremely tight this year and a night of my sleep ended up saving me around $200, so I’m happy!!
This year it was a free 12 in 1 tool. I was so happy to get it.
