The second part of this question has to do with the exam..
So after all the theory and practical exercises the instructor handed out the booklet for the exam.
It was a multiple choice that he informed us would be a “group” exam…
Now, I like exams, I’ve done alot of them and have never heard of a “group” exam before. A “group” exam is when the instructor goes from one person to the next, when it’s your turn you read the question then tell what your answer is….and if your wrong you just adjust your answer and then you score perfect…
What kind of $@!&% test is this, what the hell is the point you should of heard some of the wrong answers…scary
I don’t believe that this an effective test to give to any level First Aid/CPR and is highly unacceptable and possibly dangerous or even deadly…..

So this means everyone that takes the course automatically passes and gets their certification? That does sound dangerous.
I believe the nature of the so-called test is to act as a summary of the class, not to pass or fail. It’s best to get the misconceptions over with immediately.
If you still have any qualms about the class, certainly take it to the supervisor and find out if your experience is acceptable.
The difficult part is in performing CPR. While he was teaching the class he was assessing you to see if you are doing it correctly. If you are not they will keep you there and male you practice it until you can. (believe me I have seen them do it).
After you have taken a first aid class you are expected to use the knowledge, for basic first aid there is no defence in saying you failed.
It’s not a spelling bee or a job interview, there’s no rankings or curve. You’re taking the class to learn the skills and understand when and how to act in an emergency. There’s no grade that’s going to help you do that, the certification is a formality.
If someone in the class has made it through all the instruction and still has the wrong idea, the final exam is a great chance to figure that out and hopefully get them the information they need. I don’t see how correcting those who had “scary” wrong answers doesn’t immediately show this was a great idea. That’s one more person that has the information they need to save someone’s life. Every person with the right answer raises your chances of surviving an emergency.
You take the class so you can save lives if you’re ever unfortunate enough to be put in that position. It’s not a feather in your cap or a chance to prove you’re smarter than the others in the class. If you ever have to actually use the knowledge, the person you’re saving won’t care if you were first or last in the class, only if you act appropriately.
This is how they do it Girl Scouts all the time. You have to redo the class every year, so things eventually seem to get absorbed.
