Why on earth did the judge in florida let that 20 year old out after making threats to duplicate the virgina tech incident out?

Asked by Robby (252points) April 5th, 2008

I mean seriously why? This kid had Ak 47s, sniper rifle and, 5000 rounds of ammunition! The judge released him a day later…He apparently was collecting guns for a profit. And!! Called the police a few weeks earlier to report that he was ripped off because the guy he purchased a gun from online found out he was under age..

I don’t believe it is a crime to say you are going to commit a crime. I am not saying it was a good thing that he was released, but I don;t believe you can hold someone for making a threat. I am not an attorney but I believe, for example, if a spouse threatens their spouse, all that can be done is have a restraining order issued, which is many times worthless.
Again,I don’t know but I don’t believe they can hold him very long for making threats.

Its most definitely a crime to make threats. Now because of the patriot act, they are all defined as “terroristic threats”.

You can’t just walk around saying you’re going to kill someone all day without anything happening. Without knowing all of details of the case, I can’t really comment any further.

If you reread the article, you will notice that, he’s been arested again. This due to more conections of threats being found. He’s awaiting a hearing tomorrow 4/6.
