What are some movies that you regret seeing?

Asked by helkie (250points) November 28th, 2010

It doesnt matter why you don’t like them. Maybe because it was a waste of your time. For me it was The Crazies. Not because it was scary. It was a complete waste of my time. Anyways what were some of yours.

“Antichrist”- with William Defoe and “Old Boy”... they both left me feeling a little traumatized and i wish i didnt see what i saw in them.

Transformers 2. I liked the first one but the sequel was the biggest waste of my time and money ever.

Aster's avatar

The Omen. Scared me to death and almost made me nauseous.

I don’t know, but I took the time to watch an old movie called Tora Tora Tora once. It was about pearl harbour. It lasted about three hours, and for the first three-quarters of it, nothing happened. It was an overall waste of time. (good thing it was free)

jonsblond's avatar

@helkie The Crazies was a big disappointment. I agree!

Avatar. The special effects were pretty, but the movie was a big waste of my time.

Steel Magnolias

i liked it so much i questioned my sexuality for a long time

Napoleon Dynamite.

I’ll never understand why people like that movie…. if you do, good for you. I know so many that do. It’s just not for me.

I didn’t even get through it, and I’ll never finish it.

Rarebear's avatar

@DancingMind I only made it through 30 minutes of that movie.

For me, most recently, it was Clash of the Titans. Stupid.

Saolo, 120 Days of Sodom

I think that’s the name of it… I’m too lazy to look it up.

Anyway, it’s really fucking horrible, and I don’t mean that it’s poorly done, or that the story is weak or whatever. I mean it is quantifiably horrific… there is a shit feast scene, for christ’s sakes… Don’t ever watch this movie.

I see a lot of movies I don’t like, but I am glad I have seen them so I can discuss them with friends.
So, my list would be movies I hated that no one else has seen, or wants to talk about.

White Sands
Requiem For A Dream
Planet of the Apes (Tim Burton)

Just about anything with Jack Nicholson in it, except for One Flew Over the CooCoo’s nest.

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard , I love Salo!
Valerie and Her Week of Wonders. It was a total mindfuck, but not in a way it’s like ”WHOA! Never saw it that way before” it’s more like “What the hell just happened?”.

TexasDude's avatar

@Michael_Huntington, I’m glad you know what I’m talking about… I figured nobody here would have seen it.

I wish I had never seen any of Saving Private Ryan. I couldn’t make it through the first scene. I sat curled into a little ball, almost in tears, wishing it would end, before I got sense enough to leave the room. That scene often flashes into my mind unbidden, with stark detail, and it makes me nauseous every time. I understand the film was depicting reality, but it’s a reality I’m not cut out to handle.

The Cable Guy with Jim Carrey.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

I just saw the latest Harry Potter movie. That was a waste of time.

Blondesjon's avatar

@NanoBiscuit . . . What?

Best. Movie. Ever.

Dinner for Schmucks – The best acting in the show was done by the dead mice.

I totally agree w/ @jonsblond about Avatar. I just don’t get the appeal at all. Unobtanium? Puh-leeze. I know Cameron didn’t invent the term but it’s a stupid use of a trope.

SuperMouse's avatar

American Beauty – I actually walked out of it; Forrest Gump, Titanic, and Ghost, all ridiculously overrated and just plain bad IMO. I also agree with @jonsblond about Avatar – more James Cameron dreck, I wish someone would pay him to stop making movies. I second @Blueroses nomination of Dinner for Schmucks, two hours of watching people be relentlessly humiliated is just not my cup of tea.

jonsblond's avatar

@Blueroses & @SuperMouse I shouldn’t say I completely regretted watching the movie. I was able to get a little nap in while watching it. lol

Leaving Las Vegas, it was the first movie I watched and realized Nic Cage was a bit of a moron. Watching some dude drink himself into death along with Elizabeth Shue being an abused hooker, it was the most depressing movie I’d ever seen.

The Time Traveler’s Wife.
beautiful book,
horrible movie.

Blueroses's avatar

@boxer3 Agreed. I fell asleep about ⅓ into that film and woke up for the very end with the distinct impression that I hadn’t missed a thing.

Blondesjon's avatar

@boxer3 . . . the world according to garp was a . . .

beautiful book,
horrible movie.

Any M. Night Shyamalan after the Sixth Sense.

I couldn’t make it past the first few scenes of Super Troopers. I like a lot of silly and even sophomoric movies sometimes, but that was plain stoopid. I can’t think of anything else off the top of my head that approaches it for sheer inanity.

Jenniehowell's avatar

Showgirls – that John Travolta sci-fi movie what was it called? battlefield earth? – that movie where the actors battle a bunch of giant bugs – the movie with jack Nicholson & those aliens from mars. The list could keep going but there’s a few sucky ones to add to the list

ucme's avatar

Regret is for the birds, just sayin. Yeah I don’t regret anything, much less any god awful movie I may have seen. I carefully select what i’m going to watch & hey, I trust my tastes. However, if we’re talkin about films that left me feeling…...well, a little deflated then i’m going to have to say Deep Throat! I mean, i’m packing a beast down there but sheesh, a sixteen year old can feel a teeny weeny bit “inadequate” after watching pony dick up close & personal. Still, we move on :¬)

Show Girls. I was overseas and we didn’t have anything better to do. It was painful for everyone, but it was like an accident. Couldn’t stop watching it in the hopes something good would happen. But it didn’t.

boxer3's avatar

@Blueroses , haha- seriously though. I was pretty bummed,
about halfway through i realized it wasn’t going to get any better, and
@Blondesjon, isn’t that the most frustrating when that happens.

From_The_Ashes's avatar

Dogville and Ghost Writer (Not Ghost Rider). I would personally rather chew on razor blades with infected gums than watch those two movies again.

helkie's avatar

Also another one of mine that I really hated was “8 Below” I almosted cried. Almost every dog died.

Blueroses's avatar

The Backup Plan and The Switch were similar and released at the same time. I wanted to see the one with Jason Bateman, ended up with the other one and it turned out not to matter as they both sucked green donkey dongs.

daytonamisticrip's avatar

I’m a little late to the party but anyway bridge to terabithia was one I regret seeing. Since when does the main character in a movie die.

boxer3's avatar

@daytonamisticrip , did you ever read the book??

Dutchess_III's avatar

Awesome book.

boxer3's avatar

@Dutchess_III, my thoughts exactly.
