Want to do a Jedi Mind Trick and let me record the results?
This’ll be fun! Okay, but you have to follow the directions. Don’t look at the responses until you have done this for yourself – it’ll ruin my results and this is for a small project that I’m doing.
I’d rather not fail this project, either.
Link!
Oh, and here, put what you answered for both questions. Tell the truth! Or else I’ll fail.

freaky!!!! I answered as they said I would…. grrr.
I don’t even like carrot…...or jedi mind tricks for that matter. Good stuff though :¬)
@ucme : So you didn’t get the answers right?
Eggplant. Wonder why people think of carrots. I hate eggplant!
Ha! They missed on the first one (I said 11,) but the second one was right. I’m thinking that the phrase “arrow down” (rather than scroll down) was a subtle suggestion thrown in while you were switching form 6 to a vegetable…..
@wundayatta : You just had to go and beat the standards, didn’t you? xD
How did they do that?
I got 7 and carrots.
Scary!
Good luck on your project!
I picked 6 not 7, but I did say carrot.
Eleven and cauliflower. Mind tricks don’t work on me.
Ugh. I just quoted a Star Wars prequel <gags>
@muppetish worse – you knew it was from a Star Wars prequel!
7 and broccolli. That’s pretty freaky. (Well, only half freaky in my case)
14 and onion…..I need more coffee!
My number was six and I picked corn.
13 and cucumber.
I felt nothing – either the force is strong with this one or, like @Cruiser, the coffee is weak with this one.
First one I said 8 and on second I said carrot.
7
Tomato
@troubleinharlem
“Vegetable” has different culinary and botanical uses.
Like the tomato, corn (maize) is a culinary vegetable and a botanical fruit.
Thanks, that was fun!
@chyna Supposed to nothin! You can’t make me!! XD I suppose you are going to tell me to read the question now too!!
@chyna – Ah – that may be a design thing. I read “15” not “5” (the balance between “follow the instructions” and “quickly as you can” failed there. ;-)
@iamthemob and @Cruiser No, no need to actually read the question. I don’t know what I was thinking!
@chyna – We have both admitted we need coffee.
Or: our minds delete controlling information automatically…thus their strength.
@Cruiser – shall we go with option 2?
9 and potato… but to be honest I’ve seen the trick before!!
Sure, here goes…You are reading this post and you are going to mark it with “Great Answer.” I’ll be waiting for the lurve. LOL
How is this one so familiar with the lurve system already…
@iamthemob : Same user, same type Qs and As, different name, perhaps?
And now gone.
ALREADY!?!?
We’re getting good at finding Self_Consuming_Cannibal in whatever incarnation.
I call THAT a Jedi mind trick, yo. ;-)
The disguises are never really hard to see through, even the names all have a similar ring….
Ah, well.
9 and carrot, but I am impressed
8 and asparagus. But what is the link between carrots and 6? I do not get it.
Maybe because I’m Dutch.
@whitenoise I’m American and don’t get the connection either.
Does it have anything to do with six letters in carrot? I don’t get the connection either.
8 and I said banana! What an idiot!
First question I guessed differently I said 6. The second question was dead on! I too am very curious about the carrot and 6 connection…
6 and onion. Clearly im above such simplistic mind tricks :P
@worriedguy banana…...
I picked six.
I thought of zucchini but couldn’t think of the name quickly, so I said carrot.
@Cupcake What the heck is up with zucchini?
—I have no idea. I just saw a huge image in my head.
That’s the same thing that popped into my head.
I was kinda of stupid at first and I picked 3 but I read again before looking at the answer and I picked 7.My vegetable was cucumber.
Awesome. I got 7 and carrot.
And I always thought my brain was wired differently.
4 and Cauliflower??
Weird.
@naivete : It said between 12 and 5!
and why aren’t you on MSN?
11 and carrot
Very strange.
I wonder if it has anything to do with commonness?
7 is, I think, the number with the most other-things attached to it between 5 and 12?
Carrot is a very commonly thought-of vegetable?
I know I eat carrots all the time with hummus. When it said think of a veggie, I saw a carrot with hummus on it…
And the 11 I chose because the ‘between 12 and 5’ threw me, so I thought ‘a little less than 12…. 11!’
Wow. There I go completely over thinking it all… haha
@DancingMind : I think most people chose 7 because 12 – 5 = 7… maybe.
No idea about the vegetable part, though.
@worriedguy : Wow. Banana?
@troubleinharlem: Oh that makes much more sense! wow my not taking math in a while is even starting to affect my subconscience…
@chyna : Uhm… maybe? don’t worry, I’m bad at math also, haha. xD
Ironically, i answered six for the first one. But for the second one I said carrot!
9 and eggplant. I had eggplant for dinner last night.
I said both. Interesting. Wait, does that make me boring?
I picked 8 instead of 7.
I picked carrot. Oo-weee-OOOOOOO! :-0
So do we get any sort of explanation why those two are so common?
I mentally picked 6 but spoke 7. And carrot was absolutely the only thing I could think of. Would love to know how and why this works.
When I did the second question I tried to say broccoli but i couldn’t think of the word so I chose carrot…...
LOL You guys! I still think it was the “arrow down” prompt that caused us NORMAL people to think of things like a carrot or corn. That leaves @Rarebear out! Rutabaga in deed!
I was in the supermarket this evening and came out absent mindedly with 7 pounds of carrots. What have you done to my mind?
@flutherother : Yikes, what on earth are you going to do with 7 pounds of carrots?
I will use them to lure rabbits to my back door so I can have rabbit stew.
@flutherother That’s WABBIT! Wabbit stew! Spelling among you kids nowadays! Sheesh!
