Help!!! Knee pain...

Asked by Kiwano (41points) April 6th, 2008 from iPhone

I am suffering from severe crippling knee pain, have recently had all 4 main ligaments replaced. Doctor said the healing is done. Short of total knee replacement I’m asking for any suggestions on “miracle” products that will allow me to function…

ask your doctor if he can prescibe Methedone. (powerful stuff, if you’re not immune to it, like my boss.)

what kind of pain meds are u on?

yes, I know. My boss has back problems and spasms. Some days he can’t even move. He takes methadone and something else just to function. But he’s 1 in 10000 or so that have no effect on the medicine. He takes 10 mg, I believe, where anyone else can take less than 5 mg, and be on cloud nine!

I suggest atleast trying a natural product called Max GXL. I have seen it do amazing things for a lot of people. Look into it at www.maxgxl.com/creatingabundance
I hope you feel better. I have had acl surgeries on both knees and they feel great!

I had my knee surgery January 8th. they repaired tow torn meniscuses, and did a Stedman’s Chondroplasty. I am still having a lot of pain myself. Still on crutches, but on my last vist to the Othropedic surgeon’s office, he gave me a script for Lodine. It has helped a lot! I can walk short distances without the crutches now. I feel you pain! I hope you feel better soon.

well just revisited doctor… New MRI shows all cartilage has gone… And now have necrosis of the femur..(bone death) going to need another operation to amputate dead bone and replaced with donor, complete with new cartilage… Also will be breaking tibia to realign the joint. Knee replacement is another option but Ill advised due to my age(38) and that I would outlive the prosthetic.

I’m so sorry to hear that. Did the doctor say what cause the necrosis? I’m surprised they didn’t see a problem with the cartilage when they were repairing the ligaments. I mean, there was an MRI done before that surgery , so why didn’t they see a problem then? You might want to get a second opinion to see what your options are. My chondroplasty is healing slowly, and they are considering a knee replacement for me too, but like you, they say I am too young to be a good candidate for it.

It sounds like a lot of surgery to go through for you. Did your surgeon tell you what the success rate is for what he is considering? I would weigh that against the knee replacement. If the donor cartilage wears down, or doesn’t heal right you would need the replacement anyway, and if that’s the case you are still looking at 2 more surgeries. If it were me, I think I would go for the replacement because I think you’d be back on you feet sooner, and don’t take the risk of another surgery in a few months if the donor graft doesn’t knit well.

I really hope this works out for you, and whatever you decide lasts a long time. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.
