What are the qualifications for a good awards show host?
James Franco and Anne Hathaway have been selected as the hosts for this year’s Oscars. This article says they will be good hosts because they will attract a more youthful audience, and are attractive and funny.
Is that right? Is that what it’s about? Do you think that other people should have been chosen as hosts or that there should only be one host? Do you care? Do you watch the Oscars? Why do you watch it? What do you like about it? Finding out who wins? The pageantry of it all? What?

I thought Ellen DeGeneres was a good host and she is funny and attractive. I watch some of the Oscars just to see who wins.
They must be totally unfunny, lacking in charisma & screen presence. No wonder Steve Martin got the gig so often.
Qualifications: Charisma, personality, humor, energetic, original, and unique.
Is that right? Possibly, the Oscars need to amp up their style and energy, maybe it will help.
Is that what it’s about? Somewhat, but the Oscars seem to be prestigious award show and need to keep it mostly tamed.
Do you think that other people should have been chosen as hosts or that there should only be one host? Personally, I think one host is enough. I do like the people they chose, though.
Do you care? Yes, I love movies and the Oscars have been boring in the past.
Do you watch the Oscars? When I can.
Why do you watch it? Mostly to see who wins.
What do you like about it? Seeing all the movie stars and winners.
Finding out who wins? Yes
The pageantry of it all? Not really.
What? Huh?
Charisma, confidence and an IQ that closely matches a chicken that has Downs Syndrome.
I like someone who is funny, can think on their feet, and knows when not to say anything.
can think on their feet
Exactly. Billy Crystal wasn’t ever hot. But he could think on his feet. That’s why he got the gig for years and years.
Good luck, kids!
