Another Black Ops Question?

During the Dead Ops Arcade mode, at random times a gorilla with armor on randomly shows up and attempts to kill you, but you can’t kill it. I’m just wondering, is there a point to this gorilla? Does it serve a purpose? Or is it just completely random?

Im pretty sure he just steals the gold that appears at the end of the round. shoot him to drive him away so he cant take the gold.

It’s the galactic silverback. Or something like that. I think you have to fight him at some point if you make it far enough.
