Testicular cancer killed an Army buddy of mine within just a couple of months of diagnosis. He was in his late 20’s. I remember that he seemed OK when I talked to him on Friday and on the following Monday, I leard that he was dead.
AIDS-related pneumocystis carinii pneumonia.
Cholera can finish you off in less than a month, left untreated.
To add to the sad list that others have been enumerating…
Depression (from suicide)
Alcoholism (from acute poisoning or accidental death)
Bipolar (during a ‘manic’ stage, attempting to perform beyond capabilities)
Epilepsy
All kinds of cancers. Rhabdomyosarcoma (soft tissue cancer) killed my sister-in-law by her 25th birthday.
Diabetes, esp. type I diabetes, if the person stops taking insulin and/or completely ignores diet.
One to two years from onset? Or could it be a lifelong chronic condition that either flared up, began to show complications, or stopped being treated for one of a large number of possible reasons, all the way from loss of ability to pay on up to the young person’s deliberate bid for a short but treatment-free life?
Oooh, just thought of a good one: mental illness that causes hallucinations that drive the victim either to suicide or to accidental death.
Under the right conditions, any disease can kill someone.
