If you could block a jelly (seeing their question, say), would you want that?

Asked by Jude (32207points) December 2nd, 2010

I know that it would never happen, but, with some, when I see them post a question, I usually cringe.

I am just having fun here. No need to get pissy. :)

Makes me want to go and hang myself in my garage. ~

No, I would not want to block questions. I pick and choose what to answer based on the content of the question not who the asker is.

Boy, if that were allowed, the number of answers to my questions would be cut by 90%.

Nope I wouldn’t do it. Even the people that sometimes posts questions that make me want to cringe have a tendency to post really good and interesting questions from time to time and I wouldn’t want to miss those. I just don’t get involved in the ones that I don’t like.

jonsblond's avatar

No, but there are one or two persons I would block from answering my questions. just sayin’

What @jonsblond said. Exactly.

I gnash my teeth whenever I see that some users have even asked a question, but I find myself overcome by a feeling of prurient horror and I click anyway, hoping some kind soul will have slammed the OP in a way that would leave him/her quivering and bleeding by the side of the road. Because I find that whole process grotesquely titillating, I guess I wouldn’t want to block. <sigh>

@JilltheTooth Now I’m scared to post a question. :)

And take all the fun out of my life??? ;-)

I still have the ability to scroll, so nope.

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

Yes. I would love that.

What good would it serve be to block questions?

Sounds like you are taking it too personal.
Censorship is never a good thing.

@JilltheTooth I have the same morbid curiosity on some questions as well. You know it’s going to be a train wreck, but you can’t stop looking. :-)

@Seaofclouds : Yeah, but being the professional nurse you are, I watch you often wade into the carnage and try to restore order…I’m always impressed by that

OpryLeigh's avatar

I don’t think I would want that because I don’t like to feel like I am missing out on anything and if I blocked them I could miss out on anything half decent they posted as well as all the crap!

erichw1504's avatar

No, I like to see what everyone has to say. If I completely despise a user, I just mentally block them.

wundayatta's avatar

I can imagine that people might have personal reasons they might not want to see someone. Like if people had a relationship and broke up. They might not want to see each other’s activities here. That’s different from not wanting to see the kind of question a person might ask.

Does anyone ever tell the person who asks the offending questions that they don’t like those questions? Either publicly or privately?

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@wundayatta Remember the slut question? lol

erichw1504's avatar

I wouldn’t even cock block a jelly.

JilltheTooth's avatar

@wundayatta : I’d be afeared…

Fred931's avatar

Aww, but then I’d have nobody to talk to…

YARNLADY's avatar

I once thought so, but I have discovered it doesn’t matter.

The old domino effect here. One person wants to block certain people from answering questions. I guess I should have the right to do the same and then so should everybody else. Some people are more interested in giving a sarcastic remark or try to ridicule the person asking the questions rather than actually trying to answer them. Yes then I would like to block several users from answering my questions as well then.

FutureMemory's avatar

I wish I could say I don’t desire this ability, but I’m afraid there is one particular user that I pray to almighty Jesus I’ll one day be able to block. I can say without exaggeration that in my opinion this person has not contributed positively to any thread I’ve ever read that they posted on. There has not been one reply they made that I enjoyed, agreed with, and in fact, wasn’t extremely sorry to have read. I personally consider this member a troll in a not very well fitting disguise.

So yes, I would like this ability.
