What can I put in a glass cakestand? Something unique and decorative, maybe for the holidays but not necessarily.
Usually I’m pretty good at this but I’m drawing a blank. It’s clear at the top but the sides of the cover and the base are slightly ridged. I thought about glass ornaments, but it seems cliche. Help?

How about a pizza to remind you that Christmas only comes once a year.
Put a batter powered miniature house in there, with shiny snow on the bottom.
Wooden santas
Gingerbread house
Candles and snips of fragrant evergreen
I don’t think the glass ornaments are too cliche. I have one of those stands and I think it would look lovely (if only I had one more flat surface to put it along with the other decorations, ha ha). But you could put a lovely spray of pine branches an pine cones on there. Or you can use some silver glitter glue on the tips of pine cones, like I have done, or you can fill the cake plate with un-shelled nuts like walnuts and hazelnuts and cranberries or lay out a selection of clementine tangerines and pomengranates and walnuts. Or how about a bunch of acorns?
Put some artificial flowers in it. You can gradually buy enough sets to have a different set for each occasion.
One beautiful and unique ornament. A pile of pine cones (or artichokes, apples, lemons or limes). An antique book. A large (but short) birch candle. A small wreath. In the bathroom, a pile of pretty soaps.
Winter fruit maybe? Cranberries, pomegranates, oranges, nuts, Christmas candies and assorted ribbons and bows.
how bout a big pillar candle surrounded by pine branches, pinecones, or the pillar candle surrounded by @Judi‘s suggestion of tangerines, nuts, candies? or any combo of the above?
A pile of pine cones (mixed with glass balls if you want) with silver or gold or red ribbon winding through it.
I like @Judi‘s suggestion of winter fruit. I’m personally not a fan of pine cones used for decor, but it could work alongside the fruit.
Your enemie’s head maybe.
Thanks everyone! My only problem is the ridges on the side of the lid. They distort, so some of the suggestions, cool. Some, I think I’d just leave the lid off and put away. But great ideas, nonetheless.
Cut holy or pine branchlings with some Pomegranates, Walnuts and loose Cranberries.
My kitchen cabinet doors are obscured glass. The color is more important than what is actually in there if you are not going to be able to tell what it is anyway.
I got it! I’m gonna try to link the pic, but so not good at that….I emailed it from my phone to my yahoo….and rats! I can’t figure it out. But it’s cool, those fake clear giant jewels for weddings, and a crystal tealight holder from one of those home decor “tupperware”-type parties. Perfect. Anyone knows how I can link, pm me please?
Upload your picture to imgur.com, then grab the link url and post it here. That should do the trick. Can’t wait to see it!
@augustlan I think I got it….thanks! It’s a little blurry here but I still love it. ””
Nope. What the hell am I doing wrong???? damn damn damn need another drink
@augustlan You are hired. Thank you. I wish you could see it in real life, it looks like a campfire in the middle of a pile of ice. I love it, the man loves it, lights aren’t a big thing here
