How about a Logitech Trackman Wheel – 4-button Trackball?

I have a Logitech Trackman and I love it. I have both a mouse and a trackball connected at the same time via USB. It works fine, and neither interferes with the other. I love the precision of the trackball when using Photoshop to make very fine movements. But you can’t really use a trackball for gaming because you can’t really aim very rapidly with your thumb.

The R.A.T.7 is fully adjustable. When I say “fully”, I mean that it is ridiculous what you can do to reshape/resize it to your hand.

Trackballs are also an option, though I prefer the Trackman Marble. Of course, I have an issue finding something that is comfortable for my big mitts since many mice/trackballs are not designed for someone who can easily hit both SHIFT keys at the same time, and when I find one that fits, my wife can’t use it very well with her doll-like hands. That means that you should really try out a display model before buying so you can actually feel how it fits first..

@HungryGuy I wouldn’t be so sure. I was doing pretty good on Sauerbraten and Postal 2 with a trackball.

Hm, that doesn’t quite seem what my dad would use it’s a little, uhm, unconventional you could say?

It is unconventional, but it works. I feel the same way about memory foam mattresses; they are unconventional, especially after a few decades of traditional beds, but once you find out how comfortable they feel, you soon forget how weird they are.

Personally, I kind of like the industrial, pseudo-steampunk look of it, but maybe the Logitech MX1100 is more your speed.

Gaming mice tend to be more comfortable anyways since they are designed to be used by people who will keep their hand on the mouse for hours on end, as opposed to normal users who do a lot of switching back and forth to the keyboard or who actually get up to go to the bathroom as opposed to those who wear diapers for marathon MMO sessions.
