Where can I buy a 75 gallon aquarium stand in Austin?

Asked by silverfly (4068points) December 4th, 2010

I’ve looked at Petco and Petsmart, but I really don’t like their aquarium cabinets. It looks like I could order online, but I’m hesitant to do that as shipping will be high and I’m uncertain about the quality.

Is there any place in Austin that either sells aquarium stands or builds them?

Amazonia Aquariums moved a while back and I haven’t been to their new store, but they always had some amazing stuff at the old one.

It’s a local place that’s been around for a while, If they don’t have it, they’ll be able to tell you exactly where to get one.

Here are the aquarium listings on the Austin Craigslist. It’s a little dicier buying used, but if you sanitize it pretty well, you might catch a deal.

CRAIGSLIST. Seriously, off all the tanks ive had (far to many to name) I refuse to buy a new tank or stand. There are just far to many good ones for dirt cheap on craigslist. You may not spot a good one right away, but keep an eye out and be patient. It will come along. Especially since you live near a big city this should be much easier. I would also look up some fish/reef forums that cater to your area. You may not be into reef keeping or anything, but people on them are constantly breaking down their tanks and either leaving the hobby or moving on to something bigger and want to sell everything for pretty cheap to get it out of their house.

Used is always the way to go with these things. Sure they may not be in absolute perfect condition but more times than not, with a new coat of paint you can hardly tell the difference and your paying a fraction of the retail price.

when you do end up setting up the tank, if ya got any questions, I’d be happy to lend a helping hand :)

Edit: In just skimming craigslist i saw this while it does come with a tank which I figure you have it also comes with a lot of extras you may not have and need. May be worth buying it and then just reselling the tank on craigslist if you have the money to spare.
