Will someone help this e.coli victim with this algebra problem?

Yeah – that seems wrong.

I get -3.2x -51.3. Although I don’t know if I’m reading that clearly. There may be some confusion about which is a minus, which is a negative, which is the variable, and which is the multiplication sign.

I get what @iamthemob gets too, the way I’m reading the problem

x – 1.7 + 2x – 6.2x – 49.6 = 0
(x + 2x – 6.2x) – (1.7 + 49.6) = 0
-3.2x – 51.3 = 0

I get it!!! There’s a typo!
x – 1.7 + 2x – 6.2 x -49.6 = 0 should be:
x – 1.7x + 2x – 6.2 x -49.6 = 0

That would give you -4.9x -49.6 = 0 in the second step.

Well, I can’t find it. But I’ll bet @worriedguy is right about the typo.
Let me look at it again…x – 1.7x + 2x – 6.2 x -49.6 = 0
.....
I’m still coming up with -5.9.
-1.7+2= .3
.3 – 6.2 = -5.9.

You forgot the 1.

x is the same as 1x

@sliceswiththings Yeah….I used to LOVE taking tests, but I am so dreading this one. I’ve got a 92% right now, but I’m just not bonding (For lack of a better word) with the algebra. For the first time in my life I understand people who say they hate taking tests. I understand why it makes them sick! I will never take an online math course again. Anything else, no problem. But not math. I mean…..the problem I had with the adding—geez. I was lost for 2 hours!! I just finally compensated by adding 1 to whatever my answer was, and it worked, but I didn’t understand why. But I do now.

Heh! Nothng, really @ChocolateReigns! I’m just a little sick (for real) and wanted some attention along with my Algebra help! :) AND, also, see, if it was something so simple and I was just missing it cuz I dumb, I could say “I missed it because I sick, not cuz I dumb!”
