Why do the crime profilers (on TV) always drive the same type of vehicle?

Why do they always have a black suburban or similar car? It almost looks like they take the same car along with them in their plane.

Product placement would be my guess.
haha, so you´re saying Chevy paid them to advertise their product?
You must remember that these shows are just fiction and a spin-off of the magic of Hollywood, on a tv screen. i would say their vehicles are strictly for show and nothing else. my department has vehicles marked as police vehicles.
I see…. Well, the show is about fbi profilers that travel around in a jet, so obviously they either have to borrow vehicles from the local station, or rent them
@mrentropy is correct. It is a form of advertising.
Two words: product placement as mrentropy said. The car manufacturers pay to have their cars used in the shows. Real life crime labs do not drive such vehicles.
OK, so let´s say they´re paid to advertise… does the color of the car mean anything, or is that too just advertising?
@food it doesn’t mean anything. For some reason, they usually use black.
Black is the fictional Government’s color of choice. It looks intimidating. I would wonder, if Nissan paid money, would the government be driving around in baby blue Cubes.
First of all, “product placement” is why you see that brand and style of car “in the show”, but if you did work for the FBI, you’d probably also see “similar” vehicles, right down to brand, model and color, because they’re generally bought in fleets, and uniformity is helpful to keeping down maintenance and repair costs.
@CyanoticWasp You beat me to the answer. They buy in fleets, and the choice for government cars is based on maintenance and repair costs (hopefully).
