It’s awesome. Just got one for my kids for Xmas because the first time I tried it, I thought wow! Even the release games which are all developed by Microsoft are pretty good. They just tested it on Thee Gadget Show against PS3 Move and it won.
Love it!! So much fun : ) the only thing is a lot of the games take videos/photos of you so be prepared to laugh at yourself a lot, ahaha.
But seriously, the games are really fun, and it’s refreshing to be standing up and moving around instead of just clicking away at buttons.
It’s great alone and as a party game (which traditional video games are not) and the best part is you can’t lose the remote.
It looks fun and the technology they’re implementing is apparently fantastic, however, I just wonder how long it’s momentum will keep it alive.
The game line-up is looking like it’s all sports/dance/active activity, etc. and party-turned based games. All of which looks fun initially, however, you have to question the versatility with something like this – where else can you really take something like this? It’s certainly selling now, but I question it’s ability then once all the initial excitement cools; I dont know if the entertainment will be enough to justify the price of investment ($120) of this addition to the console.
Overall, it depends on what kind of gamer you are. For children and casual gamers, it seems like it is proving to be quite fun.
If you want incredibly shallow games that will keep you entertained for maybe a week, then go for it. The novelty is definitely there, but all novelties wear off sooner or later. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard this story: “I bought my kids a Wii. We all loved it for a week or two, but then it started getting repetitive and boring. Now it just collects dust.” Games can’t just be about novelty, there has to be real substance and depth. There has to be replay value. You have to want to come back to it a month later, 6 months later, a year later.
If Kinect is going to succeed, there has to be better and better games released for it continually. Even if the initial batch of Kinect games are great (which, for the most part, they aren’t), there has to be some guarantee that the games will get better. I’m not saying they won’t, but I’m certainly not optimistic.
I think Kinect looks awesome and is a fantastic idea. It’s still new so there aren’t that many games, but look at how the Wii took off. I think if you’re going to buy the Xbox 360 then you might as well get the Kinect too.
just a warning about buying a 360. Spend the extra money to get the one with the bigger hard drive. Some games wont allow you to do certain things if you dont have a hard drive. IE in Reach I cant play firefight. Its retarded. Fuck you microsoft…..
I don’t have a lot of expierence with 360, but i guess its good.
