As a kid, I remember my mom asking my dad this question.
His answer was “Sure, but who would admit it publicly?”
Typical.
Anyway, I have always wondered if anybody actually did fall in and get buried when they were pouring concrete for Hoover Dam.

Almost 100 died while building the Dam.
Construction deaths are about halfway down the page. I’ve been to the Hoover Damn, took the tour. I recommend it.
People are killed on construction sites all the time; that’s not so unusual.
I never have believed the idea that concrete was poured in Hoover Dam with such reckless abandon that a worker falling into a pour would be lost forever. And that didn’t happen, apparently.
Related, but unrelated, my father worked for a sugar company when he was a teen, and some guy fell into a vat of boiling sugar. When he tells the story no remains were ever retrieved. I have no idea now if the sugar was thrown out or not? It seemed to me, they still used the sugar, but I would have to ask him again its been so long.
