Grand theft auto. Car found months later crashed and abandoned in a condo parking lot. Police were great about the entire incident. I’ve never been held at gunpoint or burglarized. Come to think of it, I’ve never had anything else, small, medium or large; stolen from me except that vehicle and that was years ago. I’ve been blessed.

Yes, in a stupid way: I was having a moving sale, and a woman asked to try some things on in my room. She walked away with two gold bracelets I had gotten from my grandmother. I trusted her and didn’t even thing about them in my drawer. She left in a hurry, and it wasn’t until later that evening that I realized what had happened.

I had a cousin steal my high school class ring. I was really mad at the time, but got over it a little time later. I never got the ring back from her, but I bought a new one to replace the one she took. We haven’t been as close as we use to be since then.

I have been burglarized twice. Once when we were on vacation, our dog sitter allowed her friends to ransack our house. They stole worthless gold colored jewelry and one plate from my gold trimmed set of china, which was also totally worthless. The funny thing is the jewelry was in the same box with the valuable gemstone jewelry, and they skipped it.

The other time was when some neighborhood burglars went through our garage and stole everything they could sell quickly at the swap meet. The also stole about a dozen empty CD cases, thinking they contained the CD’s. Our insurance made a settlement for the theft.

My old car was burglarized earlier this year and a fur coat an old roomie once bought me (years ago) was taken. It was something I couldn’t have afforded at the time but my roomie/friend put in on layaway and then gave it to me because he thought it was “perfect” for me. To this day I cannot afford to replace it- don’t condone new kills furs and haven’t ever seen another like it used.

@noelleptc: That’s so sad :( People probably stole them because Cockatiels are expensive, so are good heavy bird cages.

Three bikes. Total cost, about 3K altogether.
The first, in Greece – taken from my apartment hallway. I hopped in for a second, and some jackass stole it.
The second right from my work, locked it as per my ex’s idea (Canadian tire lock), and it was snapped in the 10 minutes we were there.
The third wasn’t really fully stolen. But they took out the fork and some parts, making it essentially useless. Couldn’t sell it so far. It was u-locked, the frame and back wheel. They left the seat and I guess cheap parts.

One of my ex’s had her parents’ car stolen right outside our apt. The irony, her dad told her to get a lock for the wheel, and she was too lazy to put it in. So brought it up in the apt. The car was found in the same block, around back – with some interesting stains and smells :)

I had a car stolen about twenty years ago. It was quite a shock. But not totally unexpected. It was found a year later in some other part of the city. The seats had been slashed (presumably to hide drugs in) and there were large fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror, and some kind of wooden beaded chair back.

The only reason I went to see it once it was found was that there was a diary of our trips in it—or there had been when it was stolen. Alas, it was not there when I looked.

I haven’t, but my friend had her french bulldog stolen from her car when she made a quick run to the store and left the window halfway open. She was heartbroken and till this day blames herself for what happened. She never recovered her dog.

I failed to be mugged in Amsterdam. Weird situation. This guy comes up to me and asks me for my wallet, out of the blue. Not being a victim mentality I don’t immediately think of it as a mugging (the fact this was Amsterdam may have had something to do with that) and ask the guy to repeat himself. This puts him off. Only then do I notice the shiv he hays pointed at me. He asks again for the wallet. I, confused still, tell him I don’t want to give him my wallet as I’m heading to this coffeeshop, and walk off. Cue a couple of hours of nervous smoking as I realise and absorb what just happened. Best thing is later that night I bump into the mugger in front of me at the queue in McDonalds. He complains that he waited ages for me to come out of the coffeeshop (I left by another door) and is still skint, so I pay for his dinner. Karma’s a weird bitch I can tell you!

Had my $500 Diamond Back bike stolen when my house got burglarized a few years ago. I also had my $300 black leather bomber and $800 t.v. set stolen at the same time.

I had a car that was burglarized twice. An under-dash car stereo unit was stolen each time and I was insured both times.
Fuckin’ Farmers’ dropped me because of that

My house has been burglarized 3 times.
The first time I lost a portable TV set, some clothing, a mock Gibson Les Paul guitar, a guitar amp, and a stereo receiver.
The second time I lost a VCR.
The third time I lost about $10 worth of forgettable items.
I was insured all three times.

My house was burgled and the thief took a ring my aunt had left me when she died. It was very upsetting, as I really did treasure that ring. Knowing that someone had just smashed their way into my home was an un-nerving feeling too, and they cut themselves and their blood was smeared on the light switches and all over our drawers and cupboards, amazingly they weren’t on the criminal database , and so were never caught.

Two weeks ago my car window was smashed and my sat nav was stolen too, which was very inconvenient , but I wasn’t too upset about that, as it’s just a material possession , and I don’t place too high a value on that kind of thing & it can easily be replaced.

Someone I never thought would took their love away from me too, that hurt , and I felt like I had been personally burglarised by the other woman. Silly really, as my man wasn’t stolen from me, he chose to do what he did.

The only item that was ever burgled from me was something that had belonged to my dad—not worth much in dollars, but extremely valuable in sentiment. I’ve never quite gotten over it.
