Is it bad to act like a child (sometimes)?
So, today I didn’t have school because it snowed (YAYYYY) and I went out with two of my best friends. It was soooo cold. Anyway we played and played and played till we weren’t able to move our hands (you know you need your hands to throw snow at your friends’ faces) and then we went to a store cause we wanted to buy something to eat. And the girl who works at that store asked us if we were the ones who were playing outside and the bad thing is that she asked like she was talking to 5-year-olds. I mean, can’t we act like kids for some hours and then be us again? We played like we were really stupid, okay I know about that. But it doesn’t mean that it’s bad to have fun with your friends when it snows, right?

Bad to act like a child? Hey—it’s wonderful. Gotta let the kid out once in a while. More “adults” should try it.
No it is not & no one’s gonna stop me….. okay! Stamps feet in a petulant hissy fit :¬)
Well, she was just silly! Take it from someone with a few silver threads atop her head: Sometimes that stuff is just fabulous! What a great way to relieve stress and feel great!
Next time remember to wrap up warm & put your gloves on you silly Billy & go have you some fun! :-/
I’m 43 & I still throw snow!! always will…........
I like to go outside and catch flakes on my tongue when it falls.
Nope, and aren’t you still young anyways? I could understand her reaction if she was talking to a bunch of middle-aged men, but everyone still needs to have some ‘immature’ fun sometimes.
She was just jealous because she had to work and couldn’t join…lol
coffeenut nailed it. Enjoy youth while you have it, and never let your inner child grow old.
Tell her to take a long walk on a short pier! You only young once…. enjoy the heck out of it.! Only thing I’ve against young people, I can go out and throw snowballs with you…well, I could but one of my knees would not allow it. Also, would not want to break one of those new hips.
@BoBo1946 “Tell her to take a long walk on a short pier!” LOL! I’ve never heard that one before.
loll.. one those Southern things my friend.
Well, you do have some good jokes :)
Well, according to the Pew National Leisure Longitudinal Study, 40% of teens aged 14–19 like to play in the snow, except in Florida and San Diego, where, inexplicably 43% like to play in the snow. The numbers are higher for younger children, and much, much lower for those in the 19 to 24 bracket.
Again, inexplicably, thereafter, some 63% or more, in every age group above age 24, say they play in the snow at least once every year. As Dr. Snowmore explains, “College kids seem to have their noses buried in books or in work. They are the group most concerned about their future, and they only want to save money.”
Dr. Moresnow explained to me that these figures are significant at the .5 level, which means they were probably made up by a snow fanatic who, at the age of 54, still loves to build snow forts and throw snowballs and make snowmen.
So there you have it. Your store clerk was a stick-in-the-mud who wishes she was in a library somewhere reading about Proust.
Source: me.
No it most certainly isn’t bad to act like a child.
I am an adult, but still build snowmen, throw snowballs and go on swings and roundabouts whenever I wish. I love it… just let anyone tell me I am acting like a child and they will get a snowball in their face :))
Silly is a good thing and I try and be that way often. Sometimes it’s the spice of life. Smile
I hope the child in me never grows up.
@JilltheTooth I think you just did. ;-)
Duck!!!!!
Oops. Sorry about that. But you look so funny with snow all down your collar ;-)
<jumping around like a flea on crack> Ack Ack Ack! You in big trouble now, fella!
I will always be a child as old as I get. I love people like act childish and immature. Acting your own age isn’t fun.
There’s nothing wrong with getting silly now and then. There’s a big difference between growing up and growing up, if you know what I mean. Growing up in the sense of learning to take responsibility for one’s actions and learning a certain degree of self-discipline = a good thing. Growing up in the sense of thinking you’re “too old” for silliness and fun = not a good thing.
Enjoy it and have fun. The store clerk was probably just pissed off that she had to work and couldn’t go out and play in the snow.
Why even ask? Be confident in your actions.
Hell no! I act like a kid all the time and have a blasty-blast! It thoroughly annoys the more respectable adults in my general vicinity and gives me great enjoyment. I plan on acting like a kid for the rest of my life. When I’m 80 or 90 I might grow up.
I just wrote this essay about what fun means and about having fun as you grow older. Let me put it this way. Acting like a kid and being silly aren’t the only ways to have fun. Acting like a kid can be fun, but if it includes making stupid, hurtful decisions, that ain’t fun. Kids can get away with it because they are known for stupid decisions. As an adult, that’s not having fun. That’s just being mean. And stupid. Not fun.
well a few weeks ago we all went out and made igloos and snowmen and chairs and had snowball fights
(we’d had the most November snow for 30 years, 3 days of lectures cancelled)
We’re all between 18 & 21.
Anyone who stayed in was generally considered to be a sad, sad person…
I act like a child on a regular basis.
Absolutely not. I do and will continue to act like a child…forever! Good for you.
My inner child would beat me up if I didn’t let her out and play! Of course it’s not bad to act like a child. It’s not really cool to throw a tantrum and roll around on the floor though, that’s a bit tiresome.
@cak: Not to mention that at a certain age it’s hard to get up off the floor on your own!
@cak
Lol I thought of this old add when you said that! :-/
@Jillthetooth:I know!
@Scooby: That was funny, but highlights the tantrum thing, perfectly. :)
@cak
I thought so too! ;-)
