Best exploration on quality I’ve read and also my favorite book: Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance. By Robert M Pirsig. Also Lila, read in order though :)

Nothing is perfect, but as * something * approaches perfection, the quality is increased.

I’m a big fan of SNAP-ON TOOLS, shear quality tools that will last a lifetime….. ;-)
I’ve spent more than half of mine collecting them & replacing the stolen ones that have gone adrift over the years……

‘quality’ to me means the either a degree of standard, or a personal attribute.

An essential and distinguishing attribute of something or someone : “the quality of mercy is not strained”—Shakespeare

A degree or grade of excellence or worth : “the quality of students has risen”

A characteristic property that defines the apparent individual nature of something : “each town has a quality all its own”

A quality effort is one that was done to one’s best ability.

A quality person is one that consistently puts other’s need first with true and genuine intentions.

A quality product is one that was built to last. Not necessarily with the best possible materials that makes it insanely expensive as well, but with good “quality” materials instead of cheap inferior parts and material to make a product that is functional but a cheap POS that breaks down in 6 mos to a year.

Do you have someone you’d trust enough to take care of your kids, if you have them, your dog, and your s/o for awhile with no one else around? That’s a quality person. Same goes if you’d trust a product to do the same with the previous mentioned items.

Quality to me is a neutral term. There are many qualities by which anything can be described or judged. You could have good qualities and bad qualities or qualities that can be evaluated along one spectrum or another.

I think that a lot of people say that something is a “quality something” when they mean it is a good something or a high quality something. It’s kind of like when people tell their kids to behave. What else are they going to do? Stop behaving? What we really mean is we want them to behave well.

Quality is:
Worth the investment (money, time or otherwise)
Solid (good reputation)
Trustworthy (does what it is meant to do)
Faithful (doesn’t disappoint or let you down)
Strong (meant to last indefinitely, no planned obsolescence)
Integrity (continues to perform as expected)
