So I just saw “Unforgiven”, fell in love, and I was wondering which movies of his (directing and acting, but mostly directing) people would recommend the most. . . perhaps in top-ten list format, or something.

Go with the Dollars trilogy, first dirty harry movie, and Gran Torino. Those are my favorites.
Million Dollar Baby was also very good.
I love him too :))
Acting: The Beguiled, Kelly’s Heroes, Two Mules for Sister Sara, Escape from Alcatraz, the Dollars trilogy
Directing/Acting: Play Misty for Me,
Directing wise I would have to say that Million Dollar Baby, Gran Torino, and Mystic River are MUST SEES.
Acting wise, I don’t think I can really add much to what has been stated above, except I’d add the one where he’s with the chimp, I can’t remember the name though.
My personal faves from the flat footed king of coolness are as follows…...
The Good the Bad & the Ugly
Where Eagles Dare
Kelly’s Heroes
Thunderbolt & Lightfoot
Those are in no particular order of preference & the glaring omission of any “Harry” movie is purely down to the fact that the list would be bloody endless. Had to cherry pick, so I did.
1. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
2. Million Dollar Baby
3. Gran Torino
4. Dirty Harry
5. Unforgiven
6. Mystic River
7. Thunderbolt & Lightfoot
8. The Outlaw Josey Wales
9. Heartbreak Ridge
10. Pale Rider
@Bluefreedom Great list.
Only slightly related, but did you know that Clint Eastwood is an anagram for “Old West Action”?
@crazyivan. Thank you. Clint’s my favorite actor and director. That anagram is pretty cool and quite fitting for someone like Clint Eastwood who starred in all those great Spaghetti Westerns and more modern western movies later in his career.
Clint Eastwood (Oakland Boy!) has had a remarkable career, with many turns and various kinds of films. I found it difficult to limit this to just 10 films, and in the spirit of a Starter Kit, I am not putting some films that are must see, but are repetative of other films.
This list is not my top 10 favorite, but the 10 get-aquainted films, in the best order to watch.
1) Fistful Of Dollars
2) The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly
3) Kelly’s Heroes
4) Dirty Harry
5) Sudden Impact
6) In The Line Of Fire
7) Unforgiven
8) A Perfect World
9) Million Dollar Baby
10) Letters From Iwo Jima
I would love to include Honky Tonk Man, Mystic River, Play Misty For Me, and Gran Torino, but had to limit this as a starter kit. No doubt you could list another 20, and not find a lemon.
