For all you Religious, Semi Religious, Hard-core Religious, Non-Religious, Non-Kinda Religious, Could-be Religious, Don’t know what Religion is, American, Canadian, European, Mexican, Brazilian, African, Austrian….. Earthlings
If you are/are not religious do you give to the people that make your life easier/better during the Holidays?
If your not Religious how do you choose what Holiday to give on?....Do you go with the most popular in your area?
Do you have a list of people you give to with how much you plan to give or what you plan to give?.....or do you just have a “spur of the moment” when you/they are there?
If you do give….do you go out of your way to make sure they get it?

Yes this may have been asked before…but I’m on my phone and can’t check…
I don’t care if it’s been asked before, it’s still a great question!
I usually tip extra, yes. And I always say “Merry Christmas” when I do it because…. well, because I can.
Well, I don’t have a lot of service people in my life, but I used to tip the paper boy.
I usually tip my service people during the year, so I don’t do anything special now.
I always tip way too much according to my wife doesn’t matter the time of year. Saturday we went out to eat with my daughter and grand daughter. The bill came to $75 and I tipped $20 but that is how I have always done.
I always tip 20–25% anyways, although I did not even think of that lol…..thanks for the reminder.
Yes.
Unfortunately,it won’t stop her from giving me drunk haircuts
@marinelife That sounded dirty – “tip the paper boy” LOL.
Yes I tip the service people – mailman, UPS, and people like that are only around the holidays, about $50 each. And then the other people it’s their usual tip, around 20%. If I see a person like my hairdresser during the holidays, I would get her a gift as well, but I don’t go out of my way if I’m not in there around this time of year.
I don’t have any regular service people in my life, so no. Even if I did, I can hardly afford to buy Christmas gifts for my family, so I still wouldn’t. If I were well-off, though, that’d be a different story.
NO. Didn’t know that was something people do. As I said elsewhere, this must be an American thing.
I generally get a big aggressive with tipping this time of year—especially when I’m happy. And I’m VERY happy this year.
We leave a bottle of wine in the mailbox for the mailman and a 6-pack of beer out for the garbagemen.
Yes, I tip generously anyway, but, living in a small tourist community I tip more around the holidays, especially for local takeout food and such as it is the ‘off’ season here.
I am leaving a home made pie in my mailbox for my mail person.
My mailbox is a ¼ mile from my house so it’s a good arrangement! lol
When I did my milk round many years ago I always got a lot of tips at Christmas. It was the done thing. And before that when I was even younger I always left a ‘tip’ for Santa and something for his hungry and thirsty reindeer.
No list. Only people seeking are newspaper delivery, and my WSJ delivery person S U C K S. Misses over 2 a month. Coal in his envelope?
@absalom is it taken? [the postman] The trashmen will take it regardless, as a present or as trash.
Any other tipping, favorite waiters over time, etc., is completely spontaneous. I am not a planner.
I tip the same as I normally would. Whoever is working for tips got just as much notification as the rest of us that the holidays are coming up and they should be spending/saving accordingly.
Do our companys all give us raises for the holidays? Mostly not.
This coming from someone who was a server for quite a while through college.
