False! We usually buy, put up, and decorate the tree within a week or two after Thanksgiving. This year, nobody here was really looking forward to 2010 being over (it’s been a really amazing year for all of us), so we were kind of lagging behind in pretty much everything. We didn’t get the tree up until a week ago and we’ve been stressing out over all the shopping and everything. I have hated Christmas up until now this year. Now, I get to actually enjoy it with Christmas break and all the get-togethers (crossing my fingers that my mom and my aunt don’t yell at each other tomorrow!).

Kind of. My sister and I were getting the mail, and we found a piece of the wheel from an old cultivator in our sand drive way from when our property was part of a farm (50 or 60 years ago, I think). It was really cool. Especially to our 6— and 10-year-old selves.

All I remember is that we ate out and got back home before midnight, which is now our usual pattern.
I don’t remember where we ate, what we watched, or what we drank.

However, there were earlier 1/1’s that had distinguishing circumstances, and those circumstances now function as mnemonics, so that I do remember NYE 2007 and NYD 2008.
