I havent seen all of this, but what I have seen makes me sick to think this woman could be a World leader. She hunts, fishes but that really has nothing to do with governing or diplomacy.
I think she seems kinda “dumb” as well.
What do you think?

Sarah Palin is bad for Democracy and bad for womankind, period, if Democracy coughs up people like her, we have to seriously review the whole political process. Somebody of her calibre would have been chewed up and spat out in the UK by the rigours of our political culture. BTW Obama cruised into his position on the back of a very slick PR campaign, that seems to typify American politics. i don’t like it, it isn’t healthy. JFK ran a similar campaign, all style and no substance, one thing has to be said, Sarah Palin doesn’t even have style, so if she makes it, which i doubt, it will be because she is heeled in by the corporate elite and Murdoch’s news co. If she runs against Obama it will be good news for Obama. Oh and another thing…Apparently she doesn’t know who Margaret Thatcher is, that’s how dumb she is, she doesn’t even take the trouble to learn about one of the most successful far right female political leaders of the 20th Century.
I want her to win the primaries. Guess why.
@Not_the_CIA sure, but really, Politics needs to be contentious, as i said she is bad for politics. What about Ron Paul as a candidate?
@Not_the_CIA I know why! If Sarah won the primaries, it would show just how many people are so fed up with Obama that they would cast a vote for a ditzy ex-Governor of Alaska who hunts and fishes.
@mammal – Regarding Ron Paul, being less stupid than your son doesn’t make a good candidate.
Ron Paul is basically the only Republican with ethics, morals, and principles.
Sarah Palin was elected as leader of a state by it’s residents. Sarah Palin quit the job to self-promote and make money. I’m not sure that we need someone who quits an elected position as a national leader.
Actually, I’m not sure she is a leader. She’s a quitter.
She is dangerously ignorant and does not care that she is ignorant. That makes the thought of her in a leadership position very frightening.
@marinelife bad scary to think the “red phone” could be beside her bed!
If she gets elected as president the decline of US as a superpower would accelerate. This prospect is very frightening. The world cannot afford to lose the US as a major driver of change and innovator. We are facing far too many challenges.
She has proven herself to be an entertainer, not a leader.
I have seen bits and pieces of a couple of episodes, and I admit coming to it with prejudice, but I think it makes her look more ignorant then she already did.
I cannot bring myself to watch her even in an “entertainment” show. She is an ignorant person who typifies all that is bad about our celebrity driven culture.
I actually DVR and watch this show. I don’t think the show makes her less of a leader. What makes her less able to be President is she seems to not understand the complexity in geopolitics around the world, and out of touch with how people live in other parts of the country. If she does have a strong understanding of those things, she has not conveyed it well. She does not seem very smart to me, but I do not think she is stupid. I also think she is a good mom, has a sense of humor, a lot of energy, and a strong work ethic, even though she quit her job as governor. Quitting did not display a work ethic to me, but a lack of loyalty, and some selfishness.
I think the people who like(d) her continue to like her. I can’t imagine any of the people who think she is incompetent for high office will ever come around to liking her. She does absolutely nothing to demonstrate understanding of current international issues, or interest. That is my biggest gripe with her. She also of course is very far to the right on abortion, I honestly have no idea where she stands on gay marriage and other social issues. On the issue of abstinence, I saw her in an interview with her daughter, and she was actually rather realistic. Much more than you would expect.
I actually can empathize with people who live in the wilderness, basically of the land, and don’t see their federal tax dollars as tangibly as people in populated, congested areas of the country. What I think they really miss, is ironically those same people are the ones who think and need to believe the US is a powerful country and always will be. Many believe it to a religious hilt, like God will always be in charge, and so will the US always be the greatest nation, but one of the contributing factors to making us great was how innovative we were, industrialization, and rule of law. If we don’t put significant tax dollars towards scienctific research and development (innovation), and maintain our country to support the population, we will lose our edge in the world.
@JLeslie Your analysis is astute but Alaskans benefit the most from money they get from the Federal govenrment for the oil pipeline. Without it, many could not survive.
@janbb do you mean the Trans-Alaskan pipeline?
@janbb I was basically talking about their perception. And, I did not mean to single out Alaskans, if it seemed I did, basically any rural communities where it might apply. People in those communities may not realize how much federal dollars do benefit them, because they don’t have the whole picture.
Regardless of her politics, her intelligence, her awareness of current affairs and history, and all the rest of the qualifications that voters look for in a candidate, I think she killed her chances for a serious run at higher office when she resigned as Governor of Alaska after an unsuccessful run at the 2008 presidential election as McCain’s choice for VP, and gave no credible explanation of why she did that.
If she had resigned as Governor prior to the election campaign, then I would have had a lot of respect for her for taking that action, to go after a new job without the sinecure of the governor’s salary and benefits behind her (the way all politicians already do this bullshit campaigning on our dime). But losing the 2008 election and then resigning as Governor without a credible explanation… it hardly matters what she says after that.
@CyanoticWasp I agree with your summation of her blowin her chances at future jobs in higher office and would only add that why would Sarah announce to the world that she is resigning her Governorship to go make gobs of money off of capitalizing on this sudden inexplicable public adoration of this lil’ simple mom from Alaska?
As I read more of the answers it reminds me of something I was thinking about back when she was running with McCain. I do think she could easily be a Rep in Congress or even a Senator possibly. I cannot imagine why she would want to be either of those though, especially a Rep in Congress. Honestly, I cannot imagine she will try to run or President.
I’m anything but a Republican hater. I would have been happy with either McCain or Obama as president, until Sarah was added to the R ticket. It drove me so far in Obama’s corner, I felt like a punished child.
Sarah Palin is an entertainer. Politically, she’s kind of a joke (in my opinion).
i would shag her though, if that’s any help.
you know how church and state dont mix, right? and then you know how you throw a party for “these” types of guests or “those” types of guests, but you’d never mix the two at the same event?
that’s the vibe i get with palin. she’s a politician who also wants to entertain or draw a certain audience. like a police officer should conduct himself to a higher standard, so should a politican. a pastor should not be at a casino.
ok, so obama shows up on a talk show. that’s because he can. he’s the president and this is the age in which we live. but that’s what you do AFTER you become president—not before. palin’s daugther on a weekly dance contest? conflict of interest in my opinion. palin is trying to have “rock star” status like what she believes “that other guy” has. and to some extent, he does. but in O’s case, it just “was” because of timing and “not” planned or designed. .
I don’t want to read any others responses, but when I see that damn commercial I just want to stab myself in the eye really bad. gahhh
@charliecompany34 Why? Why do you say people who might run for the office of President can’t be on a talk show? I love seeing Bloomberg for instance on The View or Morning Joe. I would seriously consider voting for him if he ran for president.
Clinton went on a late night show when he was running and played the saxophone.
