Sit-ins are a form of peaceful protest – a way of making a point by being disruptive, but not violent (hopefully!).
Here are some useful answers.
LOL oh wow, I guess I miss spelled it or something but I guess it’s a new lingo word or something.Sorry guys.
University students can often register to audit a course, which means that they can attend classes and do assignments but not get credit for it. Is that what you mean?
The term is not new. Sit-ins by students on college campuses in the U.S.originated in the 1960s as a means of peaceful protest.
[Edit] Hmm, I think @Seelix ^^^ may be more nearly correct in interpreting your question. If you are on a wait list for a college class that is full (maximum enrollment has been reached), you can usually sit in at the first meeting or two and ask the instructor for permission to add the course. Usually dome people drop a class in the first few days, and then the wait list gets to add. So it’s best to attend from the beginning if you are trying to get added to a class.
This is not “a sit-in” but just “sitting in.” It’s the same expression you’ll hear if your manager asks to sit in on a meeting of your team: to attend informally without an intent to be an active participant.
Correction to typo above: dome people—> some people

I think the type of sit in referred to here is when the student goes to the class and just sits in back, hoping that some enrolled students will drop out after a few days and they will get to take their place as a regular, enrolled student.
Sometime the student sits in on the class for an entire term, and then enrolls the next term and gets an A because they already know the material. This is a good way to pad your GPA.
