How long did it take you to realize you were additcted to Fluther?

Asked by SavoirFaire (28945points) December 30th, 2010

I suspected it my first night. But as I sit here in the dark, typing rather than turning on a light, I know it’s true.

I’m not addicted…I can stop anytime I want! Just not right now. Maybe in a week, maybe 2.

Within minutes. That was months ago.

Fluther is an interesting site…but…Not addicted…something to do during the winter months….and a few times through the year..

I am addicted. I realized it within a few days.

I’m not addicted, but it does help fight off the boredom. I go on here when I’m not inventing or programming, but I want to do something a bit more intelectual than watching movies of my computer.

But I’m gonna go do that right away.

Within days. It’s not always a bad thing… I actually work here, now!

I started out on other Q & A sites, so I had already recognized my addiction.

I was fascinated with Fluther for the first 6 months I was here.

Then the fascination waned.

My interests tend to do that, though.

As a fluther reader, I enjoyed seeing the same names show up repeatedly in different threads but never thought I’d be one to put a lot of time into it. Somebody should have bet me some money on that theory; I was hooked my first day of sign-up.

I’m more addicted to beer than Fluther, but yeah, I should probbaly be doing something constructive right bout now, like sleeping, or having sex with myself or something. XD

It took me a week where I discovered that every chance I get on the internet I always have to log on to Fluther!

I found Fluther a bit over three years ago; however, it was not a love-at-first-sight thing for me, but that is mainly more about me than about Fluther. I’m not much of a joiner, my only experience with Q&A sites was Yahoo Answers, and I admit that I have a tendency to join forums, get really gung-ho and use them daily for a while, and then just be bored one day and never go back.

So, I had, like, zero expectation for Fluther. I found it by Googling something and I signed up and answered a few questions. It was very gradual and I didn’t use Fluther that much for the first 6 months or so. As I kept using the site, I started noticing how nice and helpful and SMART everyone was and then Fluther stole my heart.

As soon as I realized it was one of few of my regularly visited sites not blocked on the work computer.

I knew I was addicted to Fluther when I picked up my laptop and took it into the bathroom with me.
