Do you constantly do any of the following: twirl your hair, crack your knuckles, scratch your face, pick on pimples, rub your eyes or scalp?

What is it that you constantly do that maybe even has people telling you, “Stop doing that!”

I crack my knuckles a lot, but I scratch my scalp when no one else is around. Unless I can get somebody else to scratch my scalp. I loves me a good head-scratchy ^.^

@ragingloli I agree, it feels like getting a load off your neck/ back!

When i’m in a queue I whistle or hum the theme from The Great Escape. Subliminal I guess.

I touch my hair way too much.
I believe it is mostly because of my past with tugging and pulling out my hair, something called trichotillomania, but that habit has lessoned over the years, however there is still that urge to do it so I find myself with my hands constantly in my hair. I’ll just sit there, like…petting myself. Lawl.

ZEPHYRA's avatar

@Vunessuh you do that out of nervousness, don’t you? An innate nervousness?

I rock constantly in my recliner mostly and all day at work….very soothing for a very stressed out me.

Crack my neck, back, knuckles, toes, wrists, and ankles. Feels so good.

I do pop my pimples but people never have to tell me to stop – it’s not like I pop them at work. Otherwise, I don’t have any behaviors where people yell at me to stop doing it.

I crack my knuckles. Drives my wife nuts.

Crack knuckles, back, neck often, occasionally other parts of my body crack as a result. Used to rub my forehead and hands together a lot but that has stopped

@ZEPHYRA Well, I touch my hair so often that I don’t even really think about it. It’s just something I naturally do and people do point it out to me once in a while.
As far as pulling out my hair, sometimes I’ll do it without realizing as well because I’ve become so accustomed to it and for such a long time it was apart of my daily routine. Now, as I’m trying to stop it completely, I just overly touch my hair to make up for it I guess and also because of that urge. I’m like, “Oooooh, hair” in a zombie voice and just pet it nonstop. XD

I am ALWAYS cleaning my fingernails, picking at my face, and petting my hair.

Jude's avatar

I don’t do any of it.

wundayatta's avatar

I’m always scratching my scalp. My family members see it, but no one says anything.

deni's avatar

@wundayatta that too!!!! How could I forget. It’s my favorite. I guess that is weird. But I really do enjoy when I find something on my scalp to actually scratch at aside from the norm. I feel like a freak.

AmWiser's avatar

Guilty… I crack my knuckles and toes. If I’m not rubbing my hair, I’m rubbing my neck.

perspicacious's avatar

No. I don’t do any of those things.

@deni Oh, I didn’t really go into the details, but I do have stuff that flakes off in my hair, so it’s always somewhat rewarding. I like to see what I’ve produced. This is best done with a dark background—leaning forward if it’s the table (you don’t want to miss any falling on the floor), or leaning back if you’re wearing a dark shirt. Hmmm. It seems to me that if I were a woman, I’d have a natural, built-in, dead-skin catching table.

Is everyone sufficiently grossed out now? Blame @deni. She brought it up!

I click my fingernails. I used to put my fingers in my ears a lot, but I made some ear covers out of netting and broke myself of that one.

I crack my knuckles – drives some people crazy. I also sit with my chin and cheek in my hand. People have noticed that, but I don’t think it bothered them. It is bothering me now, though, my skin is looser than I think it should be.

deni's avatar

@wundayatta Not sufficiently grossed out yet. I wash my hair really well but no matter how hard I scrub my scalp in the shower I can still collect dead cells under my fingernails. And honestly I find it rewarding. “Rewarding”.

I’ll twirl my hair sometimes when I’m concentrating or nervous. I also have the bad habit of licking my lips when I’m nervous. Both of these habits started in grade school and I’d thought I’d grown out of them, but when I started college I was super nervous and caught myself doing those habits again, and they’ve sort of stuck, unfortunately.
