I have a job interview coming up and if I get the job I have to take a drug test hair strand and urine, if I only smoked once 3 months ago can I pass?

Generally, the rule of thumb for urine tests is about a month of detox. This varies on an individual basis, based on several factors such as how much you’ve smoked, when the last time was, how much body fat you have, and your own personal metabolism. Hair tests are completely different and you could be way screwed, unfortunately.

Your hair grows at an average of half an inch per month. That means, you need to think about when you last smoked and then figure out, based on your current hair length, whether that is going to be a problem.

Don’t bother with masking shampoos or any of that stuff. Usually, if a company is paying for a hair test, they will have good enough technology to be able to detect those interfering products.

@MissAnthrope is right. You can’t beat a hair test. Urine tests are very beatable though.

@MissAnthrope is correct about hair tests lasting longer. Also, shaving your head would not save you because they can use hair from other parts of your body as well (just so you know).

As for the urine, if you are an occasional smoker, the odds of testing positive on a urine test are most likely slim. If you were a regular smoker, a month of detox would be good, but you shouldn’t have a problem there. As for the hair test, it reads almost like a timeline. It will effectively show how often and when you last smoked. A haircut might not be a bad idea. They will take hair from your head if they can (they cut or shave a patch off, they don’t pull out a strand like many people think they do.) Otherwise they will take hair from somewhere else on your body. The shorter the hair is on your head, the less likely you are to come up with a positive result. How do you normally wear your hair?
I’m going to assume that smoking 3 times over the course of a year is not going to be problematic.

So at this point do I have any hope of passing a hair strand test at all?
Is there anything I can do to better my chances of passing?

Also, I don’t know if this is true or not but a friend of mine told my I have no reason to worry because I’ve only smoked just a few times over over the year, and the last time was 3 months ago, its not like Im an avid pot smoker or I use to be one of those pot smokers who smoked every day. Is that true?

I am a big pot smoker and I am on probation. I have some long hair, somewhere past my shoulders. There are no history of drugs on my record but my PO hates me and is always trying to get me. I have passed every urine test (even though I smoke alot), he tried blood testing me but I knew that one was coming so I passed. Ok, back to the hair. When I take a shower I usually shampoo and condition my hair twice and I shower twice a day. I have never dailed a hair test. Dude, if you havn’t done anything in three months then I think you will be just fine. If anything, get a haircut.
