Do Army Reserve soldiers do any special training before deployment?
I don’t know if this helps but my bf is a specialist in an airborne unit. His MOS is Civil Affairs.
Anyways, if he will be deployed in the month of whatever planned, will he be busy doing training two months before or what? How long?? Will I be able to visit right before deployment??

Most units do have training before they deploy. Generally, it’s about 2 months of training, but it really depends on the unit (some end up being less, but some could be more, depending on what he has to do). As far as you being about to visit, it just depends on the timing of the training and when he leaves. Some units “lock down” their soldiers so that they have less opportunity to go AWOL before a deployment. His unit will give him that information as the time gets closer.
Also, just so you know, be careful about posting dates online. It’s a violation of OPSEC and can cause things to be moved up or delayed (and piss a lot of people off).
Sorry, I didn’t know. That’s interesting, I’ll be sure to have our time together before he is deployed. I just came back from a visit and I heard his captain talking about the deployment, training, and some general stuff. He also mentioned he won’t believe he is being deployed until he is actually on the plane because many times when he thought he was gonna be deployed he wasn’t.
Thank you.
Also, is the training at the unit or would be somewhere else? I heard that it could be somewhere else….
It can be somewhere else. It just depends on what they need to do and if they have the proper resources available at their unit.
Doesn’t his unit have a friends and family resource contact? I was always able to ask their resource person question like this.
Hm, well I don’t know because even they don’t know….his captain was talking about it but not as if they were written in stone lol
