What places can I go for a fantastic evening out in Washington, DC?
I have lived in the Washington Metropolitan Area my whole life. I want to get some opinions because sometimes it seems I do the same thing every time I go out for the evening. Please recommend a fantastic dance club (clean and great fun atmosphere, if its a gay club that doesn’t matter, I am open to any suggestions), and a really really nice restaurant. If these places can be in nice areas and not the sketchy ones, that would be great. One time someone recommended Town dance club and I just felt extremely unsafe getting there and honestly that club was so not worth it (rude people and bad atmosphere). Later this month I have a friend visiting me and i want to show him a fantastic time in Washington, DC, so any suggestions would be extremely helpful and greatly appreciated.

Oh my god – for a meal, I’m suggesting “Founding Farmers.” It was amazing. They have a bourbon drink that is garnished with a stick of friggin bacon. Awesome.
But more importantly, there’s a cooperative ownership aspect and it is all local, small farm meat.
@iamthemob Sounds absolutely wonderful, thank you. Where is it exactly? Proper attire? Do you have any suggestions for what entrée to order? Also, we are big wine drinkers, any suggestion there as well?
Its been a long time since I have been there but I enjoyed this bar called the Tom Tom in Adams Morgan… its just a small bar but it was relaxed no dress code…I liked it.
Also regardless if you are geeky or not one must go to the international spy museum.
For restaurants, I would recommend Kinkead’s if you like seafood. It’s on Pennsylvania Ave. in Foggy Bottom. It has excellent food and a very nice atmosphere. I loved the meal I had there.
For clubs:
18th Street Lounge
Dupont Circle. 1212 18th St, Washington, DC 20036. (202)466–3922. This is one of the hottest night spots in DC and one of the most exclusive. You have to dress appropriately to get in the door. The club is a restored mansion that was once the home of Teddy Roosevelt. It is a classy place with fireplaces, high ceilings and a dance floor.
Fur Nightclub
33 Patterson St. NE, Washington, DC 20002 (202) 842–3401. This large dance club is located in a former warehouse, with 30 foot high ceilings and a huge dance floor. You can get away from the crowds here and relax in the clubs’ intimate lounges or late-night espresso bar and cafe.

@CaseyWVU10 go into Old Town Alexandria for dinner. There are many good places to eat. It depends on your budget and what you like. There’s alot to offer and the town is really unique. Charter House is pretty good and it’s on the water. Brabo in the Lorien Hotel is really nice. After dinner, listen to music at the Birchmere and have after show drinks at Pat Troy’s or Murphy’s or any number of pubs with live music. There are dozens of music venues with dancing. Good times.
Wow thank you so much for all the suggestions. I have so many options now of where I want to take my friend out for a nice evening on the town. I am going to post my thoughts on wherever we end up!!
