Does that squeaky clean reputation in someone get on your nerves?

Do you believe that such a reputation exists? Do you have friends or relatives who seem to do no wrong? Do you wish to be like that or do those people irritate you somehow?

I think that person is me. In any case, it’s a reputation I developed early on although I suspect that in recent years a few tags have been added such as “unusual fashion sense”, “odd music tastes” and “constantly online”.
It bothers me when people say (in reference to fictional characters, for example, I won’t pretend that people talk about me) that “nobody’s that perfect”. It’s like they’re making excuses for themselves. I’m sure it’s true that nobody’s perfect, but the people whose faults are well hidden shouldn’t face scorn because of the image that others project onto them.
I was that person. Up until my freshman year in college, my reputation was sickeningly clean. (no drugs/alcohol/trouble with the law/school) I found I didn’t relate/contribute to many conversations that were about personal experiences. Not that all personal experiences need to be hazardous to the reputation, but let’s face it, the ones that drag the reputation through the mud are more fascinating to listen to. & I was one boring dude. I got on my own nerves for not having done much with my life so far. I started thinking, I have this one life. It isn’t like my reputation was going to be etched onto my tombstone. & even if it was, well then shit – I want to have better stories than these other dead bodies.
After college, my reputation had been permanently scarred by some events at the result of my own decision making. I don’t regret a single thing. I do miss that clean record though. I have now become one of those ‘your reputation precedes you’ type folk. Which is an odd feeling.
No one in my family has a ‘squeaky clean’ reputation. I have a couple friends who do have one. I completely understand why they have it & enjoy holding on to it. It becomes their thing to talk about. Because you can have great stories with a clean reputation… but all your stories are how you ‘almost got caught’. Which are fine to listen to, but they’re like a Family Circus comic. Kinda fun, a little excitement & a bit irritating. Get caught once in a while. Bring a bit of Cyanide & Happiness into the comic strip of your life. :)
It’s not the reputation that bothers me per-say. If the person has a really cute personality and seems to be oblivious to the fact then I normally get along with them well and would generally like to be a bit like them. On the other hand, if they’re arrogant about it then it irritates me.
There are few people in world who are totally innocent and can do no wrong, but not many. If this person with a squeaky clean reputation is the type who takes pride in it, then you can be sure theres a few skeletons in the closet. And yes, these people irritate me. Everybody’s shit stinks.
I don’t know anyone like that. XD
Gadzooks, it is annoying when these people with the oficial “squeaky clean record” try to pass themselves off as being better because they don’t have an official blemish on them. Everyone has done something just because no one seen what they did don’t make them better because it is still secret.
