How long should I wait to buy an airplane ticket?
I plan to go to California mid March. Is it too early to buy a ticket when it comes to finding a good deal? Right now it’s so expensive, over $350. I have never had to spend over $260 for a flight to California other than during the holidays.
Bing.com says I should buy now though.

Airlines have just raised prices. They are not expected to go down. Have you looked at Southwest?
Yeah, it’s still just as expensive for the dates I do want to fly. Ugh!!!
Where are you flying from?
Ohio…seriously…this is ridiculous! They’re all around $400… _
If price is a big issue you could travel by Greyhound for just over $100 but it would take two days.
Hm, I think I’ll have my bf pay half…it just sucks cuz its expensive
Don’t wait. March is Spring break.
If you want to fly at a less expensive rate, check out all the discount airlines like Southwest and AirTran. Also, to get the best deal you have to be flexible on your flying days. Midweek tickets are normally cheaper than weekends and holidays are always a pain.
I just did a quick google maps from Cincinnati to Los Angeles. 2198 Miles one way. If your car gets 30 MPG that would be 73.26 gallons. If you pay an average of 3.00/gallon it will cost you 219.80 each way and take you about 35 hours (one way). Once you factor in hotels and meals, the drive would cost you about 649.60 if you assume two hotels at 75.00 each and 30.00 each trip for food stops. The flight is about 4 hours with no hotels, extra food, ect. I didn’t even count the extra oil change on your car for driving close to 4500 miles or the tire rotation you should do every 5000 miles. Those would be extra.
Sounds to me like a 400.00 plane ticket is a steal!
