What's the dumbest commercial you've seen?

This one Folgers coffee add where a brother comes home from some coffee bean growing country in Africa and is like, “Wow finally real coffee.”

Um guys you do realize that coffee effing originated from Ethiopia, right?

I’ve been without a television for a few years now. When I visited my mother for Christmas two weeks ago, every commercial seemed incredibly stupid. I can’t tell if they’ve all just gotten worse, or if I’ve been away from them so long that I can finally appreciate how terrible they truly are.

Any Axe/Oldspice/Tag commercial.

The Oldspice commercials are playing up the bizarre postmodern absurdist bent that is popular these days for whatever reason, and Tag and Axe commercials are both completely retarded as well as incredibly misogynistic.

Another diaper commercial where there is a competition so see who can fill their diapers the biggest, and after three progressively bigger bottoms the narrator proudly announces the diaper didn’t explode.

Mine is a print ad. It was an add for a diabetes drug, and when they talked about side effects it said “compared to a sugar pill” instead of placebo. Do they really give diabetics sugar pills in double blind studies? I just found it ironic and dumb.

There are a lot of commercials that piss me off, but I don’t have a stand out of one that is dumb. So many of them are brainless.

I am going to pay more attention to commercials today; I am sure I will come up with an answer.

They’re implying that raw tap water is as bad as toilet water. Of course, anyone with a single neuron would realize that toilet water is only dirty because you crap in it.

Most toddler commercial milk advertisements are dumb enough when they showed the quality of their product by the ‘individual intellectuality’ (which is not necessarily and highly-unlikely caused by consuming commercial milk alone) of certain kids in their commercial rather than the nutrition facts of their products. The worst part is that most of the audience and consumer believe that those milk really have such ‘effect’ on their kids. Dumb commercials for less-educated people.

In the case of this antidepressant that’s advertised, it’s not so much the commercial but the product itself.
One of the numerous warnings in the commercial is that the product can cause suicide.

@Brian1946 Ironic. But, that is probably a requirement by law. Some of the other dumb commercials, advertisers actually thought they came up with good ideas.

The one for nookcolor, the weirdest named product ever.

Too many to name, but none more foolish, in my opinion, than the Geiko gekko commercials. I’m sure they’re working, but Lord, how I hate them.

There’s a commercial for Coffee Mate which shows a man in his kitchen getting his coffee. There’s a cat on the floor rubbing his legs, and the voiceover says “Milk is good for a lot of things.” And he pours milk into the cat’s bowl. Then it says “Only Coffee Mate is good for one” (or some equally confusing statement) and the man pours Coffee Mate into his coffee.

Not only is the voiceover confusing, but the guy gives milk to his cat! Cats are lactose intolerant and shouldn’t have cows’ milk.

It’s a commercial for the Swiffer Sweeper. In it, the woman on the stand is asked if she can point to the defendant. She points at the defendant, and then everyone in the courtroom gasps. The defendant, really? Could he be sitting at the defense bench where ALL DEFENDANTS SIT?!?!?!?

It’s one of the Kia hamster commercials. To me, they’re completely dumb and highly annoying!

@janedelila – I just saw the Pull Ups commercial for the first time. That’s so stupid! All those people are doing the “potty dance” together in the park and no one ever actually gets to pee.

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard – Oh man, I hate those! There’s that one that may or may not be Jamster, with the tiny bunny singing that horrible song in that horrible high-pitched voice… This isn’t the commercial, but it’s the song and the bunny. I HATE this.

@everephebe – It’s the “potty dance” that the kids are doing, which is a play on “party”. Apparently you can download the song on the Pull Ups website, according to the commercial.

I hate all commercials. Fuck them all. They kill boners and weasels and weasel boners.
The only commercial I don’t hate is the Honda commercial with Judas Priest’s “The Hellion”. If that commercial played the entire “Screaming For Vengeance” album, then shit, you just got a fucking customer, Honda. Rock on. Encore. Free bird.
