Would someone be able to give me some information on this piano?

Asked by ModernEpicurian (1638points) January 9th, 2011

Hi Jellies!

My father actually has a question for you guys, we’re looking for some information on this piano, at the moment we’re really struggling.

We’ve probably had the piano for around 10 years now and we seem to have become curious as to what the labels on it mean etc.

Here are a couple of pictures:

If any more pictures would be helpful please don’t be afraid to ask.

Any information would be massively appreciated!

Thanks as always!

I asked my husband who is something of a pianophile. He says that you should go to pianoworld.com and register for the forum and pose your question there.

There are people there who will love to help you find out all about your piano.

BTW, the first line of text is Gold Medal.

Can’t help you but this site might! Cool looking with great wood grain! How does it sound and play?

@marinelife Thanks for the link, I’ve just joined. Fingers crossed that someone recognises it!

@Cruiser Thanks for the tip, I’ll have a trawl through. It used to sound very good however I must say that I’ve neglected to play for quite some time so it would need a bit of a tune up.

From what I Google Wacker was founded in 1875 and moved to 69, rue de Douai, Paris in 1909 when it purchased another company, Fortin.

Google translate French to English
Circa 1909 WACKER buys the house FORTIN: Soc. anonymous pianos Wacker, 69, Douai on Provision of FOB. pianos, and branches Wacker (** 1909)

It’s a Belgian web site, so there are two versions of this site, French and Dutch
