Why would someone cut the end off someone's hose?

I have a friend who reports that someone has come and cut off the male end of his garden hose several times. Why would someone want that? Or is it just a meaningless prank? The guy is very cool and low-key. He lives in a rather rough neighborhood, though. I wondered if someone might use them for cooking meth or something.

I’m sure he can continue getting hose extensions from home depot, but it would be nice if the person doing the cutting was paying for it.
~ a frustrated Moyle? I can’t think of anything practical the ends could be used for unless he was replacing them with the heavy copper or brass ends.
You’re asking why some people are jerks? If you can figure that out, I bet there’s a book deal in it.
I did it once. We used it to siphon gas for the car.
It is rather bizarre that some random person would do that to his hose, but it’s an easy fix, involving a screw driver and a replacement hose end from the hardware store.
I have seen bongs made from plastic bottles with a piece of garden hose stuck into them. I bet that is the answer.
Welcome to Fluther.
We welcome all kinds of questions. This is one of the oddest first questions I’ve seen.
As to your answer:
Theft of the nozzle (cutting the hose is quicker than unscrewing). Tell your friend to put the nozzles on quick-connect ends and maybe the thieves will use those instead of cutting the hose.
Vandalism. Cutting the nozzle off a hose makes it much less useful.
Better yet is to use a hose caddy, roll it up and lock it after using. Or find out who the culprit is and file charges at the local precinct house. If that has no effect, then it’s time to move.
(Really want to say something about circumscision here but since it’s Gneral, I won’t.)
Thats the Mohel’s job. He makes the briss.
