Why do you think my cats like pants so much?

I usually change into PJs when I get home, and I usually just leave my pants on the bed until I put them away/in the laundry later. My cats always snuggle on my pants. If there’s a sweater or a shirt on the bed as well, they’ll avoid it in favour of the pants. It’s puzzling and weird. It doesn’t matter whether the pants have been worn, either – if I put a freshly-washed pair or a pair that I’ve just taken off on the bed, they’ll sleep on them. They won’t sleep on Mr. Fiance’s pants, either.
Why do you think they do this?

I’ve noticed that too actually. My idea was that it had something to with them recognizing the smell, but then why would they go after washed pants more than unwashed shirts? Maybe their noses are better than our laundry machines.
they just like your pants. They feel like they are with you and it is comforting maybe. Our cats do it too.
They, like me, want in your pants.
Maybe they like the feel of the fabric. My cat, while he loves the usual cat-friendly stuff like fleece blankets and velvet kitty beds, also loves the rough texture of carpeting and the coarse, tweedy fabric on my luggage set. It’s just a different sensation on their paws and skin/fur.
It’s like sitting in your lap without you. ;)
This explains it. (I assume the omission of the “i” in “paints” is a typo).
Are they fleece? My boy loves the fleece!
@Jude – It’s any kind of pants! Jeans, sweats, khakis, any kind. They’re just weirdos :)
