How do I find the specifications of my wheels?

Asked by Jeremycw1 (1370points) January 12th, 2011

Ok so I’m buying new wheels for my 2001 Ford Ranger (4 door extended cab, 4X4 XLT) and I need to know the backspace, bolt pattern, diameter, max load, offset, and width my truck can handle. Does anyone know where I can get this info? Or should I just go to my local tire store?

I would start with the dealer and get a spec sheet. Call the dealer, any dealer, and give them your VIN number. They can tell you that info.

You can do a Google search or input your info into TireRack.com

@RocketGuy I didn’t think tirerack.com could tell you what your truck could handle. I thought it would only tell you replacement of OEM.

Anyplace that has an alignment machine will most likely be able to tell you the specs on your wheels for you specific model. Offset, lug pattern, tire size, ect…. A place like Tirerack mentioned above. If you’re looking for something like this, those guys would know.

If you search for wheels compatible with your truck, TireRack will come up with compatible wheels. Then you can see what the specs of those wheels are.
