Credit systems in different nations?

Asked by mrlaconic (3990points) January 13th, 2011

If you move to another nation how do they determine your credit worthiness? I know that Canada and the US both use Equifax and Transunion so I imagine they speak to each other? Or do you have to start over? What about other places in the world?

I ask because I am considering moving someplace else in the world for a change (where / when yet to be determined it’s just on my mind) so curious if this data transfers or if you have to start over?

I am not an expert, but think most non North American countries DO NOT extent credit like the banks in USA and Canada. I think that a lot of large purchases in foreign countries are paid in full. No credit required “cash is king”.
