How do I get rid of a cold really fast?
I’ve had this nagging cold for almost a week and feel like its ruining my life! I can’t even workout without having to sneeze or having my eyes get extremely watery. I’ve tried Nyquil, Mucinex, and drinking hot tea but it won’t go away. Any remedies for getting rid of an annoying cold fast?

i doubt it is possible. We would all know about it for sure.
Good fresh chicken and vegi soup, not packet shit. Hot hot showers and drink lots of water to stay hydrated. And good size doses of vitamin c as well.
Only your own immune system can get rid of the cold, so do all the good things you can to support it.
I take mega doses of vitamin C. It seems to work for me, but it could just be in my mind.
If it has held on for more than a week, see a doctor. It could be bronchitis or pneumonia. You will probably be given antibiotics if it is one of these. They can both lead to worse if left untreated.
lotta meds or drink it out with some jack + lemonade (the southern remedy)
Welcome To The Club!!!
This is my fourth week and i am on strong antibiotics and a narcotic cough medicene to help me sleep at night, without coughing my tonsils out.
Sorry to say, but you have a few more weeks to go.
My doctor told me that a glass of Wild Turkey and Coke helps more than anything. IF you are over 21.
Rest, take it really easy. Your body will do it, if you give it a chance.
Chicken soup and rest, with some vitamin C. Other than that, you just have to wait it out.
Stop trying to fight it. Your social life and exercise regime can wait. Rest, drink your weight in water, take hot showers, try to eat easily digestable foods with some regularity and get some vitamin C. Just let your body do its thing with as few distractions as possible and you’ll be good as new in no time :)
You should definitely not be working out if you have a cold. Blocked noses etc can impact your respiratory system, and you do not want to be straining yourself or taking energy away from your immune system. Drink a lot of water, wash your hands and keep a healthy diet with lots of vitamins. There is no miracle cure.
Take oranges at least 6 in the lunch, don’t eat meal in the lunch then. They quickly heal up even in one day. Most of the people have a big misconception about them that due to citrus in taste oranges make the flue more worst. Oranges are great sources of Vitamin C which cures cough and cold. Just try it once cuz I also tried all medicines but nothing did work well. And in future adopt the habit of taking green tea, if possible add some lemon juice and honey in the tea to loose weight and remain fit through out the year.
Patience. Seriously, if you’ve had it for a week this is probably the worst its going to get. As long as you get plenty of rest, good natural nutrition, plenty of water and fruit juice to help your body, you should start to feel better soon. Anything you do to try to speed recovery will hinder your own natural defences. Trust me, im almost over a cold myself!
@robmandu Are you kidding? Zicam is a homeopathic remedy (i.e., no active ingredients) and has been targeted by consumer fraud groups. Zicam sued.
My experience with the common cold these past six decades is that each one has a slightly different profile of symptoms and durations. Some simply linger longer than others, all other things (such as your immune system) being equal. Just ride it out and be thankful it’s self-limited and not life-threatening.
“With treatment a cold should disappear in about 14 days; without treatment it may linger as long as two weeks.”—ancient wisdom
Hope is on the horizon. Recent research may have uncovered antigens that are commonly shared by all rhinoviruses (the usual surface antigens are unique for each), leading to a possible pathway to a one-time vaccine against all strains of the common cold. Wait a few years…
