How would I go about writing a resume?
I’m trying to write a resume for my first job. I’m interested in working at Denny’s.

The first thing I would do is type resume writing in a general search box.
Hello young lady. No offense, but I don’t think you need to write a resume to get a job at Denny’s. What’s more important is that you show up prepared, looking presentable and motivated to work.
Go to the interview with a pen to fill out the app. Have a good attitude, fill out the application neatly and COMPLETELY. And try and talk to the manager to get him/her to see that you are a friendly customer-service oriented person, who really wants the job.
Yes, you will probably just need to fill out an application for a job at Denny’s rather than have to submit a resume. @mrrich724 advice is good. Dress like you care whether or not you get the job. And yes, neatness does count. First impressions in terms of your appearance, how you carry yourself, attention to detail, in terms of filling out the application, those things matter and can make either a good or bad impression. Times are hard and there will be a lot of people, more qualified than you, experienced wait people, e.g., competing for the job and the details and how you present yourself do matter.
I’m not sure if I would write a resume you have nothing to put on it. But I would write a cover letter (google it) to attach to the application. And use a paper clip to attach it. The odds are good that if you get hired they will have to remove the staple to photocopy your application.
@projectilevomit: Perhaps change your user name to something more unnoticeable, even for Denny’s. Congrats on looking for work. A first job is exciting and fun…there is nothing like a pay check made out to Projectilevomit Hardworking young person.
@gailcalled I love @projectilevomit‘s user name. How will they know it’s her at Denny’s? It’s not like she’s going to put it down on the application. Maybe if that is also part of her email address, that might be an issue but unless she’s on facebook under that name and describing applying for a job at a specific Denny’s and I don’t think it could be an issue.
dennys do not need resume. just show up ready to go
