Vintage Items - Inventory, price checks - where to start?
I’ve been collecting vintage knick knacks for a while, (vintage being from about ‘85 or before, most from 50’s and 60’s) And Am wonder how and where to check the value of these items. Kinda like and antiques road show thing. I’m just personally interested in where some of these items came from, what they are worth today (if anything) and other random facts.
Most of this is for my personal interest, but I am considering selling a few of them if it could help me bring in a few extra dollars for college.
So where can I figure this stuff out? I prefer a website, but if you know any places near western michigan I’d check it out.
And would Ebay be a good way to sell?

eBay give you a huge audience. Between Paypal and listing fees, they will take 10–20% off the top, but it’s worth it for me.
Also, if you log into eBay you get the option of searching ‘Completed Listings’ so you can see actual selling prices. When you do that, be aware that they include items which didn’‘t actually sell. Only the ones which say ‘Sold’ are helpful in setting real-world prices.
Thanks for the tip!
I’ve never used ebay before, but i’ve sold through a few other sites.
Some of my items i heard are handmades, how would i calculate costs with those, since i can’t compare it to any others (there are no others)…?
Etsy might be good for handmade items, but I have never used it. Hopefully someone knowledgeable will chime in. Or you could start a new question specifically about Etsy.
