I downloaded a mdm.dat file but cant open it on my mac, what do i do?

it is suppose to be rosetta stone version 3 but as i said earlier i cant seem to open it

dat files are for programs data. Such as a language pack for Rosetta Stone. You still need the actual app to know how to read the file.
