Why did many young men go from wearing one earring to wearing two?

Years ago men began wearing an earring in one ear. I didn’t “get it” or what it meant but didn’t care. Then I noticed many are wearing an earring on each ear. Does it signify anything in particular or is it just a fad?

they felt guilty about leaving the remaining one all alone when purchasing a pair ;)
I would have to go with personal preference too
.So many people have piercings now that for me it would take a skull piercing like a handle on a suitcase for me to even notice it.;)
@ucme Could you point your gun the other way, please? XD
Maybe they wear 2 to give that balanced look.
@lucillelucillelucille _Chuckle, chuckle! Good to see you back. Hope all is well:-)
@AmWiser Thanks! I’m doing great! Good to see you too! :)
Just the evolution of fashion, along with the lessening rigidity of gender-specific roles. I quite like it on some guys.
I don’t know, but my hubby looks really fashionable when he borrows our daughter’s cupcake dangle earrings…
@augustlan said pretty much what I was thinking. My guess is that two earrings on males used to be taboo because of the feminine connotation of earrings, but things like that really don’t matter as much as they used to. I think earrings are hot.
I wonder why they don’t appear to want to match a bracelet to the earrings? Or a necklace?
@Aster Pffft, my hubby does all that when he plays Pretty Pretty Princess with our daughters! The rings and bracelet, too!
I never got the thing about just one earring. When my now ex husband and I started dating then he had the one earring thing so I offered to buy him diamond studs if he got a two-earring-thing going. Done deal, he looked fabulous and though it was uncommon then (80’s) he did get many compliments for sporting a full set.
