I’m just wondering who’s changed their username, and why. What was your name before?

Nope, I’ve been WillWorkForChocolate from day 1. =0)
I was once a lunatic, but now I’m taking it one day at a time.
daloon = wundayatta
I joined Fluther originally about 6 months before the date on my account. I was Sarah82696, but I didn’t like how there was so many random numbers in it. I felt like I needed a more sophisticated, real username. There was also some stuff that I wanted to leave behind me associated in my head with that account.
I needed a quick answer to a question I had and I used the login name I use for everything else. It used to be py_sue and I wanted to keep this seperate form the rest of the internet.
Was jmah, then mama cakes, and now Jude.
And, jjmah. mama-say-mama-sa-ma-makoosa! Ja-mon! (grabs crotch)
@Jude You forgot one – “jjmah.” I’ve always been janbb and i’m sticking to it.
I just didn’t feel like tinyfaery any longer.
@Jude So that’s why I didn’t recognize your username! I knew you were a regular, but I couldn’t figure out who you were! Ack, so annoying when people do this.
I think about changing my name all of the time. If I change it I might start from scratch.
Always been Tropical_Willie.
Oh hey tinyfaery! You got to keep your points? Glad to know it’s you!
I was Dutchess the first time I came here, then I got mad and left. Then I came back on accident and I was Val123 and I got over 10K. Then I decided that Val123 was boring and I wanted my real name back so I changed. Struggling up the 10K hill again!
@JLeslie I LOVE your name!
I was Croozer for about 2 hours….just didn’t look right.
ROFL @janbb! I’m sorry! Glad you missed me…even though….I’s right here!
I agree. Coozer just looks….awkward!
I didn’t know you were Val123 either. I ran across an old thread that Val123 had been on and wondered why she left. Glad to know it was you!
I’ve thought of changing mine as it’s boring and uncreative (it’s just my initial and surname ::yawn::) – but…
1) After two+ years here, I feel it’s too late as I’m fairly established.
2) I really don’t like when other people change theirs, so I don’t want to be a hypocrite.
Whenever I see someone who I know has changed their name, I kind of mentally superimpose their original name into the conversation. They’ll always be their original usernames to me.
I feel so ‘pecial all of a sudden!
@cprevite Never change. You have no idea how you make me light up when I see your name on a thread. You are one of my top 5 favorite jellies.
@chyna curious about your username. Why “chyna”?
I was (big A) Andrew for a while, but I thought that people would get that confused with (little a) andrew so I changed it. Totally a completely true story, not at all fake.
I’ve always been Sarcasm. For a while, I’d thought about changing my username to my last name, which is what I go by in real life. But I thought that would make me just too easy to find on Facebook.
and I’m Sarcasm here because that was my username on the last Q&A site I used, that a lot of few Jellies migrated from. I stuck with it for simplicity’s sake.
No, I’m not into all that. I’m CaptainHarley here and almost everywhere else. : )
@Jude I honestly can’t remember why I chose Chyna. I do know at the time I was dating a guy that not only went through everything in my house, including old bills to see who I had talked to in the last seven years, but he got all my user names and passwords out of my desk and looked at all of my online accounts including my bank and 401K accounts. I kicked him out of my life and had to change everything including the keypad entrance on my garage door.
I am thinking that there was something on TV at the time about Chyna Phillips (of the group Wilson/Phillips) and that may be why I chose that name.
Wow….glad you got rid of THAT loser @chyna!
I’ve always been SimoneDeBeauvoir here – and for most of the time on wis.dm.
When were you something else on wisdm, @Simone_De_Beauvoir?
Lilly….I knew you when you were a baby wisdmr!
I’ve been lillycoyote always and forever, at least online. I stumbled onto the other site I was on, wis.dm, one night and used a name I had lying around, that I had created for another purpose, thinking that I wouldn’t be on very long but I was wrong about that. And then when wis.dm shut down and a bunch of us came over here I kept the name. It’s really the only online identity I have other than my real name and I’ve grown fond of old Lilly. I like my user name better than I like my really name, actually.
Heh heh! We ensnared you did we! So, so glad! You’re one of the best!
@Dutchess_III and I knew you when you were Dutchess the 1st (and Dutchcat; wasn’t it fun, on wis.dm, when we could change our names as much and as often as we wanted? It got confusing sometimes but it was fun).
Yes, very fun….but some arguments erupted over that, too, as I recall!
Yeah, it really wasn’t a very good way to run things, that’s why they changed their policy I guess, but it was fun. Didn’t we give ourselves spooky, ghostly versions of our user names one year for Halloween?
Once a Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard, always a Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard.
I don’t remember that @lillycoyote :(
Ah, which reminds me, @Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard…I wonder what the story is behind some screen names! I’ve always been curious about yours. I’ve just assumed you’re from Louisiana….?
@Dutchess_III, I’m not from Louisiana, but a lot of my family came from there, and I’m part Cajun and Creole on my mom’s side. I also (used to) try and learn to play fiddle. .
But…what about the B part? :)
He should just change his name to Handsome Bastard. :)
@Dutchess_III, oh yeah, I was conceived at a frat party. Maybe. Or I just don’t take myself too seriously.
@Jude, you’re beautiful.
@chyna, you’re beautiful as well.
Waaaaiiiit a minute, @Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard! You’re leaving some women out here! Not a good plan! We can always totally shorten your name, you know!
@Dutchess_III That’s exactly what I was thinking! @Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard, what am I? Road kill? And don’t think for a minute that you’ve made me cry or anything, because you haven’t, your sorry ass isn’t worth it, you fiddle playing Creole bastard you.
Looks in mirror… WTF. It is Johnpowell.
YEAH!!!! Lilly is NOT roadkill, and she’s not just some pattern on a Quilted Bounty! Who do you think you are? Godzilla Supreme Bastard???
@Dutchess_III and @lillycoyote it’s quid pro quo here… you stroke my…. ...ego, I stroke yours.
In which case, both of you are exquisite.
I say too late. What say you, Lilly?
Yes, the bastard is at least one stroke behind.
More like 50 strokes behind! Yeah..I’m callin in the Big Dog, if I can. You are so in trouble, FPCBastard!!
Trust me ladies, I’m just a few strokes ahead…
If I ever think of a better name than cockswain, I might.
I am Yarnlady_needsyarn and Yarnladyisback on most of my current sites. I prefer the notoriety of YARNLADY. I am not yarnlady dot com and that is the only time there could be some confusion.
Sometimes I wish that I could change my name, without abandoning my whole account. My name makes me so easily identified by anyone in real life looking for me (or, even those who might only be looking for me on the internet.)
When I first joined Fluther I had no idea that I would become such a regular user, I had no idea how addictive it was. ha. It didn’t even occur to me to pick something anonymous.
At other times, I feel like it’s nice to be known. I don’t want to be RandomUser123, a part of me likes that people have come to know me as Neffie – which is what my friends and family actually call me.
Anyhow, no, I’ve never changed my user name. Sometimes I toy with the idea, but, overall – I think I’m sticking with this one.
@TheOnlyNeffie You can petition to have your user name changed and keep your lurve. PM auggie.
@TheOnlyNeffie Yours is one of my favorite user names here… I’m not sure why. It’s just so… something. It’s like you know exactly who you are, you’re TheOnlyNeffie, of course! Any more questions? :-)
I’m augustlan here and everywhere else. I did think about changing my name when I realized I’d be so active here… anyone that knows me would instantly know this is me. At the time, there was a ‘no name change’ policy in effect. Plus, I decided that since I’m exactly the same here as I am in real life, I wasn’t worried about anyone discovering me after all. :)
We do allow name changes now (and you can keep your original account/lurve). Send me an email via the ‘contact’ button, or a PM, if you need one.
I am too easily confused to ever change my name or my avatar. I wouldn’t know how to find myself. Besides, so many people love the name and have such interesting ideas about what I actually look like because of it, how could I give that up?
@JP You are really confusing me. Why all the name changes??
I don’t know if I would consider changing my name. It suits me, as I would, indeed, work for chocolate if I were desperate for a fix. The only thing I don’t like about my name is when some people refer to me as WWFC. It reminds me too much of wrestling, which makes my stomach turn. :P
I have thought long and hard about changing mine to “sloth” but I don’t have the bollocks. Or “mulder”. Or “chimona” for that matter. Or “cactus”...“pickle”.
I like Barry (for a name)..
@Jude how could I forgot? i’m the worst mother ever.
When I first signed up I was a “worried guy”. But I’m really not a worrier and things turned out so well I should probably change it. “Lucky guy” or something similar would be a much better fit.
@TheOnlyNeffie You’ll always be the only Neffie for me.
That’s good news @worriedguy! Really…every time I see you I feel…. sad….
I haven’t changed my name on Fluther, but when I was on Wis.dm, there was a small percentage of people offended by my name. I was AnalGrammarNazi for a long time and then someone got their knickers in a twist and pestered the crap out of me. “Nazi just has so much negativity associated with it, I’m offended, blah, blah, blah.” So I caved and changed it to AnalGrammarNabu (Nabu was the Assyrian and Babylonian god of writing and scribes and was the keeper of the Tablets of Destiny, in which the fate of humankind was recorded. He was also sometimes worshiped as a fertility god and as a god of water.) I wanted to keep the initials AGN as most people had shortened my name to those three initials anyway (except DUTCHESS. She kept calling me ANG, but she’s a twit).
I wish I would have kept my original name, regardless of how a few select people felt. I was, and still am, rather draconian about proper grammar, sentence structure and spelling. I blame my family. I come from a line of educators and proper grammar was drilled into all of us at an early age.
I know that I make mistakes occasionally, and I admit when I do so, but I can be a GrammarNazi and still be human!
Draconian sums up a lot of things about you AGN!
How can you spell A G N wrong???
@Dutchess_III The very same teenager who will stay out in the sun long enough to develop 1at, 2nd and 3rd degree burns, will stay out in the snow and develop any one of the early stages of frostbite
@YARNLADY Wrong thread. I answered that question on my barefoot in the snow question.
@Dutchess_III Ha, ha. No wonder it wasn’t there the next time I looked. I saw your answer.
I couldn’t resist today…I ran out in the snow barefooted to start the truck…just to do it. Oh it hurt!!! But it’s all good. :)
