because hockey fans want to see all of it, the fights and the great skating, stickhandling, hits, passing, shots, saves. its only the people that dont understand why they fight either get off or get disgusted by them.
they do! its called gang fights with hockey sticks only!
Because then it would be boxing.
Like I said in the other thread, fighting is a part of hockey. It’s not what it’s all about. People who just want to watch fights won’t pay hundreds of dollars for NHL tickets; they’ll watch boxing or MMA or whatever.
Watching a live NHL game is exciting. All of it. There’s the sound of the skate blades on the ice, the smell of beer and popcorn, the chill of the arena… I love to watch a really skilled player score a ridiculous goal (Marty St.Louis the other day, for example) or make a standing-on-his-head save.
Fights are part of it, for all the reasons we discussed in the other thread. If you’d rather watch a wimpier version of the game, I hear they broadcast soccer all over the world.
@Seelix then let me play hockey that way…two leagues one for fighting one for playing….We can call it the beginning of the Unreal Tournament in real life… If people want to watch it then it must be good? Right?
I can guarantee that a league with no fighting would fail. Epically (as the kids say these days).
@Seelix you missed the soccer riots
@talljasperman – Probably because I was busy watching a real sport. ;)
The riots occur in the stands, not on the field.
@Seelix what about fighting in the Darts league… or Bowling; That would boost ratings… two minute penalty for beating up your bridge partner?... well maybe I going to have to agree to disagree with you and go to bed : )
All right, now we’re just getting silly. You asked a question. I, as a fan, answered it. I chose soccer as an example for comparison because the general object of the game is similar, as are a lot of the rules.
@Seelix o.k. thank you…I’m going to microwave some supper and call it a night.
